Quilt Design CONTEST!

I’ve been eagerly awaiting the brand new UK magazine (out next month!!), Quilt Now, edited by the fabulous Katy Jones of I’m a Ginger Monkey. If you live in the US, Pink Castle Fabrics also has a subscription club for the magazine, which you can find here.

Each issue will follow a loose theme set by colour, reflecting what is current in both fabric and quilting as well as the trends from fashion and lifestyle stores. All of the projects and imagery will tie together with the particular theme of the issue, making it a visually beautiful and inspirational magazine. Issue one follows the theme of sorbet – soft pastels and fresh fruity flavours, think of lemon sherbet and strawberry ice cream sundaes in the sunshine, in the park. Issue two (out at the end of August) has a European Summer theme – vacations in the Greek Islands and beaches of the South of France, nautical fashion and cocktails by the pool. There will be high quality free gifts every month, including cut and sew kits, notions and tools – and there may be the occasional photo or 2 of cats on quilts. Just because.

Katy and I have put our heads together and organized a fab quilt design contest, featuring my Jungle Ave. fabrics, out now in quilt shops! You can see the fabrics, as well as some coordinating Art Gallery Fabrics blenders, over here. Are you an aspiring quilt pattern designer? Would you like to have your quilt featured in a future issue of Quilt Now? Then this contest is for you!

Contest Rules

1. Design a quilt block or quilt layout. The design may be hand-drawn, designed in EQ7 or Illustrator, whatever is easiest for you. We are most interested in the actual design of the block/quilt, not how well you can use a computer. Blocks/quilts can be pieced, foundation paper-pieced, applique, whatever!

2. Quilt to be made using Jungle Ave. fabrics. If possible, please note which fabrics are used in which portions of the quilt. I will provide the Jungle Ave. fabrics to make the quilt to the winner of this contest!

3. Your block or quilt design must be e-mailed to me – [email protected] – no later than July 7, 2014. You do not need to send instructions at this time; just an illustration of the block or quilt is enough.

4. Katy Jones and I will choose one winner out of all entries received. The winner will receive the Jungle Ave. fabric needed to make their proposed quilt, and they will design and write instructions to make the quilt. The winner will receive a contract to be published in Quilt Now magazine, and their pattern will be featured in a future issue of the magazine.
