Spain Travels Parte Uno | Barcelona

I am back! After a splendid holiday in Spain spread over ten days, this space is back in action. Lets start with a little rewind of all that was seen and experienced and purchased! I had been putting pictures up on my Instagram, but this beautiful country needs more than that! Since we visited quite a few places, I wanted to split it into multiple posts so that we can give everything its due attention! So here goes..

This apartment that we found at Airbnb, was such a delight and made our stay at Barcelona so much more comfortable and relaxing. It was well equipped and had a beautiful, bath, bedroom and kitchen. This was everything we could have asked for and I highly recommend this website for anyone planning a vacation in Europe. A 2 minute walk to the beach from here made it super convenient too! As it always happens, we walked our way to most parts of the city, with a little help from the City metro :-)

This was Barcelona from the cable car which took us to Montjuïc. The view was breathtaking! The first picture of the post was taken from here as well, and its the beautiful Barceloneta coastline. The water was the most beautiful blue and matched the sky perfectly!

The Cathedral La Seu in the Gothic Quarter. The wall that you see adjacent to it is where the Gothic Quarter starts and its full of narrow lanes, lined with shops and open spaces.

This was our first evening at Barcelona. It had rained all day but cleared up by evening.

The National palace of Catalunya at Montjuïc. It houses the MNAC, Museu Nacional d’Art Catalunya, or National Art Museum of Catalunya.

This was after a day spent on the beach! The tan and glow is obvious! Don’t miss the beach hair, wish I had some color to show off the texture! :D

The famous Sagrada Familia Church in Barcelona. This is going to be under construction for another 15 years! It was mostly covered with building material so we couldn’t see much of its beauty.

Park Güell, Barcelona. It was the hottest day in Barcelona but the park was at a height and the view from there was worth all the effort!

El Cap de Barcelona. An icon for the 1992 Summer Olympics at Barcelona. This was situated very close to the Barceloneta Beach.

Besides the above attractions, there was the shopping area, Plaza Catalunya which had me visit it almost everyday ;-) It was centrally located so we would get there every evening after sight seeing. A lot of wallet damage happened there!

I LOVED Barcelona, and its in serious contention with Paris for my “Most Loved Holiday Destination”. Inspite of it being July, the weather was quite comfortable atleast in Barcelona and it even rained the first day that we were there! It thankfully never got humid which was such a relief!

I would highly recommend this city to not just beach lovers but people in looking to visit a city with unique buildings, lovely people and great food!
