Too Pretty To Use

I have a section in my makeup drawer (which is rather large) as proof of just how badly “product hype” has hit my poor wallet! “Limited Edition” makes my bank account groan very loudly, but I shamelessly ignore it. I have a fair share of insanely expensive makeup and other bits which I know are going to go bad even before I get around to using them! Naming a particular beauty blogger as the reason for my unwarranted purchases is just wrong, so I won’t do it! I love what they do, I love reading about new stuff, but its upto me where I want to put my money. Now lets get on with the ramble!

One of my “too good to use” products was the über expensive, and an otherwise perfect Guerlain Wulong Meteorites Pressed Powder. If you were into makeup and had been reading beauty blogs around the end of 2012, then I am pretty sure this limited edition wonder from Guerlain would have caught your attention. I literally bought this with my eyes closed and absolutely no reason whatsoever. I just knew I had to have it no matter what! Well then I did get it, but have hardly used it since. The compact is beautiful and glass so its not something I could carry around and definitely needs a gorgeous dressing table to sit on!

I had also picked up a Guerlain Rouge G lipstick in 02 Gardenia, around the same time as the powder. Its a pretty pinky peachy nude that I bought the moment I swatched it! Now, the problem with this one is the same thing that makes it so luxurious, the packaging! Its just SO DAMN HEAVY and bulky that there is no way I can carry it around! It just sits on the table to be used, which never happens! Just look at the bullet! My perfect lipstick with no use Aaah!

$95 for a large bottle of the FAMOUS Josie Maran Argan Oil didn’t seem much to me during a Christmas shopping frenzy, but of course I have not used it enough to justify the spending! I have no idea what I was thinking when I bought it! May be “an elixir for perpetual youth and beauty”.. comes close! I find it too rich an oil for the face and too expensive for the hair. I am stuck!

Among the more recent purchases have been the Urban Decay Naked Palette. Do I even have to reiterate why I bought this? No I think! But what I do need to confess is that I have not used any of the colors even once! I have no idea whats wrong but I have never remembered to get this out for use. May be for my next makeup rotation this is definitely coming out!

The Chanel Poudre Signee de Chanel Illuminating Powder was another limited edition product which got hyped enough for me to splurge $$$ on. This one though I have started to include regularly in my makeup but only since last month. For a good one year this was lost in the depths of my makeup stash and nearly forgotten! This is a gorgeous one, never over the top and very very easy to use. You can see it in action here.

Tom Ford lipsticks are every lipstick lovers dream and well worth it! They are insanely expensive, but of course this didn’t stop the addict in me to buy one when I was in Paris. You can check out the rest of the haul here. I got the color Cherry Lush, which is still UNTOUCHED. I am waiting for it to be fall (in my head) to start using it, but I cannot promise ill have it in me to ruin that beautiful TF ruthlessly!

Of course there are a lot more things which should have been in that picture, but are not. Another time, another post may be.

I need to muster all the will power I can to start using these with nonchalance, before things start to fossilize!

What are your precious makeup bits that you have not made a dent in? Spill the beans!
