Makeup For September

The prospects of using only a few makeup items for a whole month, did not look too bright at the start but guess what, I have actually survived the last month! Given my abysmal makeup usage to start with, its no surprise I didn’t miss too many things all that while. In fact there are a few things about my makeup usage that I realised on the way :

1. I need multiple lipstick options! Sad but true, I cannot stick to one lip product (I sense that actually is the norm around.. amiright?). I did cheat here and roped in another tube for an everyday slap-n-go lip service last month

2. I am NOT a gloss girl! However much I drool over every Chanel Glossimer there is, I just don’t get along with glosses! My lips are too pigmented to wear them alone, and on top of lipstick its just too many layers!

3. I am a “1 eyeshadow only” girl. The lid crease brow-bone shebang isn’t for me! I have only used 1 eye shadow, MAC Soba, all month long!

This month’s capsule makeup looks something like this:

Base : Giving my Jouer Luminizing Moisture Tint (which sadly is too dark now) a break and opting for its more matte, more coverage, cousin the Matte Moisture Tint. Colder months means ill have redder skin and will need to cover it, hence! Because this is matte and I am a “dewy skin” kinda a girl, I have brought back the gorgeous Chanel Le Blanc de Chanel back in the wing! It gives me the proverbial “lit from within” glow which I can never have enough of.

The YSL Touche Eclat was originally dismissed thanks to all the hype around it which it did not live up to! For the past few weeks, I have new found love for it. Its good for my under eyes and just right for the amount of brightening and covering that I need. Lets see if it continues to wow!

Cheeks : Now that summer has departed officially, I need not go overboard with the bronzer, but a golden glow is an obvious requirement! Nars Laguna bronzing powder is my “winter bronzer” as it more golden and less bronze on my skin and looks beautiful. For a bit of color I am absolutely in love with my new RMS Beauty Lip2Cheek in Modest. Its the best kind of peachy pink which doesn’t look too peach or too pink on me. Paired with Laguna I get the nicest golden warm pink flush.

Eyes : Giving my MAC eyeshadows a break, I went for Chanel’s Mirage illusion d’ombre. Its this gorgeous bronze gold, one-wash color which is right up my street and I have been stupidly ignoring it! My eyeliner is (no surprise) MAC Coffee again. Some of you may notice that the poor Naked Palette has not made the cut again! I haven’t quite warmed up to the idea of using it yet.. We’ll get there eventually! I am on the last leg of the Kevin Aucoin Mascara, so it has crossed over to this month’s rotation.

Lips : Like I said, multiple options! I have fallen back in love with my YSL Rouge Volupte Shine lipsticks and #4 Fuschia in Excess and #9 Nude in Private keep me covered for both night and day. I love the RMS lip2cheek on the lips too but with a bit of balm on top.

What is your go to product this month? Let me know!
