Decadent Chocolate Baskets

I am no cook. That is for certain. But I DO have a whole whack of creativity. And that's basically the same thing. Click to see how to make these awesome (super fancy looking) but also SUPER easy decadent chocolate bowls.

I am so excited to show you this "recipe" today - because it is SO easy. TRUST ME, (coming from she-who-blows-up-casserole-pots), If I can do it - YOU can do it. You will need the following:

  • A slab or two of delicious chocolate. {You could get fancy and buy Lindt or something equally spectular, but since you need quite a bit of it, I used regular Cadbury's slob-chocolate}
  • A pack of balloons
  • Ice cream (or anything else you want to put into your chocolate bowls)
  • Fresh strawberries/berries

First blow up your balloons. Don't fill them all the way - just enough so that the bubble part makes a decent sized bowl.
Do a few extra than you may actually need - to give yourself a little leeway if you eat one by accident things go haywire.
Next break up your chocolate in a bowl -

Heat the chocolate, until it's melted. (The correct method of heating chocolate is over the stove with a double boiler - but I just did my slowly and carefully in the microwave)

I don't think there is ANYTHING more beautiful to look at than melted chocolate.
(also - my Anthropologie bowl - that's a pretty beautiful thing to look at.)

Next, take your balloons (I actually washed mine a little bit with washing up liquid to take away the latex smell - it's not necessary at all - but if you do want to wash your balloons, then make sure you use water that isn't too hot!) Carefully dip your balloons into the melted chocolate - make sure you get the chocolate evenly all the way around the sides. It works best to have a slightly thicker coating all round - so make sure you melt enough chocolate!

Take a spoonful of the melted chocolate and put it on your greased tray - this will help form the base of the bowl - so that it can stand up properly. Gently lower your chocolate balloon onto the spoon of chocolate on your tray, so that the two melted chocolate parts connect.

If you have any strawberries - you can dunk them into the chocolate as well!

Place your chocolate bowls and chocolate fruits into the fridge until they have hardened. When they are all firm - you can pop the balloons and gently peel them away from the chocolate.

Serve it up with a dollop of your favourite ice cream (or cream) and add in some fresh fruits - you can also add a little sprinkle of crushed nuts. Any left over or broken chocolate bowls can also be added into the chocolate cups!

Et voila!
