Leopard in the Dunes

Desert dressing requires very little. Loose linen, backless silk and cheesecloth cotton were the basis of my uniform for a week. After sweltering Marrakech and the stormy Atlas Mountains, we ventured across to the coastal town of Essaouira and a whole new climate for our last 3 days.

Hot, windy and cool at night, long sleeves and denim were suddenly back on the menu. Loose, sheer stripes proved a welcome holiday update on my Breton tee addiction, and the perfect happy medium to suit the dunes’ temperamental climate. A flash of leopard print is always a win-win with me, so while my Pat Butcher coat takes the summer off, this little ponyskin clutch will be keeping my big cat print needs fulfilled.

On another note, I packed about 6 pairs of shoes for the trip but could have halved that seeing as I constantly lived in my Birks and Ancient Greek slides. Would have saved on the Ryanair excess baggage charges too (*grits teeth). Even now I’m back in London, I’m still constantly rolling around in my slides, reluctant to put the brown toes away in case it means the holiday really is over….
