Every year I plan to swear off Black Friday. And then the ads appear, the commercials begin and the online chatter gets this girl too excited. What can I say, I’m a shopper at heart and just won’t let a good deal be missed!
It must be kind of generational, because most years go like this …
My Mom (on Thanksgiving night): Oh dear! That meal took all day to prepare and look, it got eaten in less than 30 minutes!
Me: We should ask the boys to do the dishes …
Mom: Why? So we can go shopping? Did you get a paper? Where are the ads?
Me: Um, I thought you said you didn’t want to wake up early! It’s too cold and remember, Christmas budgets …
Mom: But the sales! Get your computer … let’s look it up and plan a route. I’ll buy coffee and dig out those hand warmers. You in?
Me: OF COURSE!
So, more years than not, we venture out. One, because it’s a fun bonding experience and two, because Black Friday sales must be shopped. They just must.
This year we’ve got our eye on a handful of stops, some online, some brick and mortar. One being Office Depot OfficeMax (side note —> did you know they are now one company?). Their deals are already live and I’m making my list and checking it twice; nothing like 50% off and free gift card with purchase to make my heart skip a beat :)
So, now that I’ve spilled the beans on my intrinsic draw to Black Friday, what kind of Black Friday shopper are you?
