The Little Black Dress by Emma Hunt London: A Chic, Elegant, Groundbreaking New Collection

“One is never over-dressed or under-dressed with a Little Black Dress.” So says Karl Lagerfeld and I am absolutely not going to disagree. The iconic ‘LBD’ has become a staple in every woman’s wardrobe – that go-to piece that can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion and worn with a smile because you know, when you’re wearing your Little Black Dress, that you look as good as you feel. Well, today, you might want to start making a little room in your life for a new favourite because The Little Black Dress Collection from Emma Hunt London is going to steal your heart…

Back in October, you might have seen us tweeting our support for Emma as she launched her Kickstarter campaign to raise £30,000 to fund production for this new collection and to allow her to keep the work in-house at her London studio. We’re thrilled to say that Emma not only reached but also totally surpassed her funding goal and now, The Little Black Dress Collection will truly come to life.

Emma had created The Little Black Dress capsule collection after feedback from her bridal clients showed there was huge demand for a new take on the LBD. Comprising of fifteen designs that are perfect for women of all ages, The Little Black Dress Collection has that special something for you whether you’re looking for a chic shift for the office, a perfectly elegant piece for formal events or a show-stopping little black dress for parties. The fabrics Emma has used are beyond brilliant – pure silk crepe, silk taffeta and wonderful British lace – and every single dress is handmade in her Wimbledon studio.

“I waited for the right moment to launch The Little Black Dress Collection,” explains Emma. “It’s a passion project for me and now that consumers are moving away from throwaway fast fashion, I’m confident that now is the time to launch. I needed funding for the project in order to keep production of the collection in the UK – I’ve built my reputation for producing exquisitely made couture bridal wear by overseeing all production in-house at my London studio and I’m passionate about maintaining this.”

If you supported Emma Hunt on Kickstarter, I can well imagine how happy you are at the prospect of having your very own Little Black Dress delivered in time for Christmas. If you didn’t, you might be very pleased to learn that Emma will soon be opening an online ordering facility so you can snap up a little piece of made-to-order gorgeousness.

And these dresses are so very gorgeous. ‘Letty’ is certainly one of my personal favourites with that deep v neck and pretty three-quarter beaded lace sleeves as is ‘Lois’, with beautiful box pleats and another plunging neckline, this time with a lace insert. The high boat neck and empire seam of the classically stunning ‘Bella’ will no doubt become a party outfit par excellence and I’m also in love with ‘Lucia’ – that full tulle skirt and beaded lace bodice is just divine.

“I have been overwhelmed by the response to the collection and am so appreciative to those who supported me and my project,” says Emma. “It has been a truly exhilarating experience and I am over the moon that I can now fund the production of the collection here in my London studio. I’m delighted that I can continue to contribute to the best of British design and provide exquisite couture to women across the UK and beyond, women who will be proud to wear handmade British design.”
