Let’s Talk About Fall Fashion

Remember during the winter when the polar vortex was vomiting snow and misery on all of us, and how I said I’d never complain about being hot again? Well, I’ve kept my word. Mainly because it’s barely gotten hot this summer, but still. We were all expecting a bout of hellfire after that winter–because when you live in Chicago that’s just your luck–but it’s been shockingly pleasant almost everyday. In the 70s, breezy, I tend to need a jacket at night, etc. Basically, it feels like a slightly warmer version of fall.

I only wish it WAS actual fall. Why can’t I live in a place where it’s 60 degrees and wonderful all the time? Let’s pretend it’s cool enough to wear this:

blouse // jeans // booties // tote // sunglasses // watch // necklace

Sometimes when I do these outfits I accidentally pick clothes that are eerily similar to stuff I own, but I didn’t do that today! The closest things are those snazzy ankle boots, except mine are black, pointier, and don’t have a cool zipper detail on the side. SEE? I’m branching out.

I’ve noticed a lot of elephants in stores lately, so I’m thinking they’re the new owl/fox. Those little ankle booties are everywhere, too, so even though I’m Team Riding Boots 4-Eva, these are adorable. You already know that tote bag makes my heart sing; think of how many pumpkin-flavored things it will hold. I’m also dazzled by the all-gold watch. Hilariously, my dad has had a similar one for years so now we can be twins! (Funny story about my dad’s watch: he got it for Christmas from my mom when I was about three (four?). I knew what was in the box but somehow missed the memo that it was supposed to be a surprise, so when my dad saw the package and said, “What is this?” I was all, “IT’S A WATCH.” Ask a small child a question she knows and she will answer. Haha.)

Has your summer been on the cooler side, too? Does it make you ready for fall right this second? What’s your favorite thing here? I’m going with the elephant shirt.
