How to Make a Towel Rack From Pallet Wood

I’m so happy!

We recently finished our guest bathroom makeover! I don’t have all the pictures completely ready yet, but I wanted to share a super-easy DIY project with you!

Have you ever wondered how to make a towel rack out of an old piece of pallet wood? No? Well, this is awkward then….

This was such a simple project that has made a big impact in this room…and it all started with an old piece of pallet wood…

1. I had been saving this piece of pallet wood for the perfect project!

2. This particular piece of pallet wood was rather beat-up, and I wanted to even out the color. So I stained the whole thing with Minwax’s Wood Finish in “Driftwood”.

3. Here is just a quick shot of the two vital finishes to achieve the weathered look I was going for.

4. After the stain dried, I used a dry-brush technique with American Accent’s “Heirloom White” paint. {Dry brush technique is basically just dipping the end of your bristles into the paint, dabbing off the excess, then “dry brushing” you piece.} It’s a great technique to use when you want a weathered finish!

5. Next, we drilled a “pilot holes” {that’s what Mr. Hoff called them} where we wanted the hooks to go. Mr. Hoff says that you have to drill pilot holes so that your screws don’t split the wood when you screw in your screws…or something like that.

6. We aligned the holes in the hooks with our pilot holes, then drilled the screws that attach the hooks to the wood into place.

Tada! Love my new towel rack!

I LOVE my new “Beach Sign” too! If you follow me on Instagram, then you may remember when I found this at an antique store this summer! I snatched it up, and hung it up in the new bathroom!

I can’t wait to share more pictures of the finished bathroom with you!

Have a great day!
