A Children’s Book Themed Shower

When my long-time friend called me this summer and told me that she was pregnant, I squealed and clapped and did all of the things you do when you find out that your friend is expecting.

When she told me she was going to have twins, I shrieked so loud that Miss L. told me to be quiet. {Poor thing. We were in the car, and her ears were probably permanently damaged.}

This past weekend, I co-hosted a Children’s Book-Themed shower for my very great friend. Who, if you haven’t caught it yet, is having TWINS!!!!

We kept the centerpieces simple by stacking some classic children’s books, then topping them off with a blue Ball jars with flowers.

There was a super-cool green mantel, which served as the back drop for present-opening. I jotted a baby-related quote by Dr. Seuss on a chalkboard, and flanked it on either side with more ball jar center pieces. These book-themed pennants are just perfect, aren’t they?

So many classic children’s books that I remember from school and growing up! I love this theme!

It’s great to use cupcake toppers as embellishments for jars, or to make a garland. You can really get creative and use them in so many different ways!

We decided on a brunch menu, which was delicious! I’ll be sharing a French Toast Casserole recipe with you next week! {I cooked something for the shower! Can you believe it??}

Mmmm! The food was a hit!

We had each party guest do a letter page for an alphabet book. We will combine all of the pages and give the Momma-To-Be a sweet keepsake to share with her babies!

A few shots with my co-host and our sweet friend! {The three of us have been friends since pre-school….for real!} Between the 3 of us we will have 4 kids, all girls!

I have to say, it was very nice to throw a shower at a venue instead of at one of our homes. We were cleaned up and out the door an hour after the shower was over.
