Daylilies: plan now for next spring

This week I want to share with you these gorgeous lilies. The photos were taken at Merryspring Gardens just a couple of weeks ago. Although daylily bloom time is just about over, I thought the pics would be great for next years perennial garden planning.

All aboard for Columbus

Let’s start out with this brilliant red-orange one, “All aboard for Columbus”. This is my favorite color as of late. Going to want this one for sure.

Smokey Bandit

This delightful little number has delicate ruffled edges, so sweet!

Tiffany shade

This slightly pinker version dances in the sun.

daylily, name not known

I couldn’t find the name of this one unfortunately, but I had to include it here, bright salmon with glowing yellow interior.

Mango glow

This daylily has another name in addition to “mango glow” but it couldn’t tell what it was. You can’t help but feel the warm glow of the sun, appropriately named.

Zona rosa

Another lovely purple/lavender one, quite demure.

Apache war dance

And lastly, “Apache war dance”. It wins my award for the most brilliant, striking color!

You might want to pin one of two or these on pinterest. Haven’t gotten into pinterest yet?! Oh, you might want to give it a try, I am sure you’ll be hooked! Here are my boards. Merryspring will no doubt have it’s plant sale next spring, so plan ahead and get there early!

Here’s a link for daylily recipes. I haven’t tried these yet but I sure do love to eat squash flowers. Recipe for those coming next week.
