FITNESS


I constantly receive emails and comments requesting my diet and workout routine, so I’m finally starting a new fitness segment on my blog! I’m not a professional trainer or anything, I just know what works for me.

I started working out religiously about three years ago because I wanted to shed a few pounds and get toned. Now I just workout to maintain my weight, but also because it makes me feel good. To me, there is nothing more gratifying than enduring and completing a grueling, sweat-drenched workout. I workout about 3-4 times a week, switching between cardio and strength training. I’ve never been a fan of running and I detest ellipticals, so I like to either take a spin class or do a thirty-minute high intensity circuit training on cardio days. For strength and resistance training I only use my body weight (although sometimes I do incorporate dumbbells) and alternate between muscle groups and intensity.

Exercise plays an important role in getting in shape, but healthy eating is even more crucial. You have to commit to a clean diet, keep track of your macros (carbs, fats and protein) and cut out all processed foods. I use MyFitnessPal app to count my calorie intake because workouts are pointless if you’re consuming more calories than you’re burning. There is honestly no secret to getting fit other than discipline and diligence. It doesn’t matter if you want to lose two pounds or seventy, the principle remains the same. And trust me- it becomes easier the longer you stick to it.
