Maybelline The Falsies

There's been a lot of hype surrounding the Maybelline Falsies mascara for quite a long time, and I've held off from trying it because I haven't been a massive fan of Maybelline mascaras previously. However, I've recently just run out of my current favourite mascara - Covergirl Clump Crusher, so I thought it would be a good opportunity to try out the Falsies and see if it lives up to its reputation in the blogger community.

It was a bit overwhelming looking for this mascara as there are so many different versions of the Falsies! I ended up going for The Falsies Volum' Express Flared in Blackest Black.
The applicator is a long, curved bristle brush that is supposed to help create a 'winged' look. The brush was a real let down for me: I found that it didn't really do anything in the way of flaring out my lashes, I still had to use the end of the wand to flare out my outer lashes. I also found that the bristle brush tended to cause quite a bit of clumping - I much prefer comb or plastic style wands for this reason.

In saying that, the Falsies still provided me with a decent amount of volume and definition, and it can definitely be built up for extra defined and full lashes. However, I was slightly disappointed with the lack of length it gave my lashes. Even with a few coats, I couldn't get them looking as long as I would normally like.

Overall, Maybelline the Falsies doesn't quite live up to its expectations. The downsides for me are the brush and the lack of visible lengthening. This is by no means a bad masacara, I just don't think it works for me. I think I'll be sticking to my Covergirl Clump Crusher for now!
