Disappointing Products Pt. 1

We all have those products that just don't work for us or don't meet our standards and expectations. Products can receive a huge amount of hype from the beauty community, and on occasion I finally get my hot little hands on the product only to be disappointed with the results. I've put together a two-part series of things that disappointed me either by not living up to the hype, or for simply not working as I had hoped.
By no means am I saying these products are bad, I just felt they simply didn't work for me. That isn't to say that these products won't work for you!

Trilogy Very Gentle Moisturising Cream

I'd heard a fair bit about Trilogy products, and was excited to try their moisturiser targeted towards sensitive skin. As you may know, I have extremely sensitive skin so I'm always on the lookout for skin products that are gentle yet reduce redness and irritation. The Trilogy Very Gentle Moisturising Cream claimed to have these benefits, and while I found it didn't aggravate my skin further, it definitely didn't do anything in the way of reducing redness. I also found the product to be quite heavy on the skin. It is however fragrance free and is pretty moisturising, so it isn't without some redeeming qualities! I did do a full review on this moisturiser which you can read here.

Philosophy Hope in a Jar Moisturiser

This Philosophy moisturiser seems to be such a hyped cult classic, but unfortunately it doesn't get my vote. It really didn't do anything for me at all. I used this for about a month and saw nothing that confirmed the constant hype surrounding it. Sure it moisturised (like you would hope a moisturiser would), but I could've been using a $9 moisturiser and it would've had a similar, if not better result. The other issue I had with this was the scent. I really couldn't get past it for the life of me. For me, Hope in a Jar simply didn't live up to the huge amounts of hype surrounding it making it a bit disappointing. I feel that this moisturiser would probably work better for people with normal, trouble-free skin.
Burt's Bees Anti-Blemish Solution

Burt's Bees Anti-Blemish Solution has been a much-hyped product, with some even calling it a 'miracle solution'. However, there were a few issues for me with this product. The most disappointing aspect was probably the fact that it didn't clear my blemishes that well - I often had no visible reduction in size or redness even after 2-3 days. I didn't enjoy the stinging sensation upon application, and I found the scent completely overwhelming and not at all enjoyable. For me, there are better anti-blemish solutions out there. In saying that, this product is all natural - benzoyl peroxide free with a small amount of salicylic acid, which is great for those with sensitive troublesome skin.
Again, these are products that didn't work/didn't live up to hype for me. The products aren't necessarily bad by any means, they just aren't the right ones for me. Stay tuned for part 2 coming this week!
Do you use these products? Do they work for you? Have any products that you found disappointing?
