Pumpkin Nails

Happy Sunday,

I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend! For me, this just has not been my week. What started out as a little cold on Friday has developed into a full blown sinusitis by now. Fingers crossed I can get rid of these nasty bacteria soon! When I went to a pumpkin dinner at a friend's house recently, I obviously had to match my nails to the theme. So I played around with brushes, stamping plates and threw a little glitter in the mix.

Products I used for this manicure:

  • Essie - Nourish Me base coat
  • OPI - The IT Color (pumpkin)
  • Essie - Fear Or Desire (pumpkin)
  • Sally Hansen - Ever Green (leaves)
  • P2 UV Light polish - Sassy Stone (stem)
  • OPI - Orange You Fantastic (glitter)
  • Mundo de Unas - No. 48 (ivy)
  • Bundle Monster plate BM-316
  • Misslyn 60 seconds top coat

I like how the pumpkins came out on my naked nails. I wish I had applied a nude base color under the ivy stamping, though. My white free edge looks a bit out of place. OPI - Orange You Fantastic from the Coca Cola collection is a perfect glitter polish for fall. While I love the color combination of the glitters, I did not like that the orange jelly base is incredibly sheer - what you see here are three coats of Orange You Fantastic. Also, it dried pretty matte and gritty. Even three layers (!) of top coat did not completely smooth it out. A thicker top coat might have helped with that.

Despite the little flaws I am pretty happy with how this pumpkin manicure came out. This surely won't be my last pumpkin nail design, especially with Halloween around the corner. Speaking of Halloween: I have been growing my own Halloween pumpkins since May and they're huge by now. It's about time to start my first ever pumpkin carving. Do you have any tips or tricks for me?
