Oh nail polish layerings how I missed you! ♥
Today I was in the mood for a sparkly layering and I still had yet to try the gorgeous Dance Legend Green Mamba 923 from the Rich Black collection and the Essence Gold Topper from the Metal Glam collection. Dance Legend Green Mamba is a black jelly with beautiful green/blue flakies which have the same size as the gold flakes from Essence Gold Topper so I needed a third nail polish on top to add smaller sparkles. Because I love how the red/gold iridescent glass flecks in CND Crimson Sparkle look combined with green I picked this sadly discontinued effect top coat. Thank you Shellac!
The Gold Topper is a bit tricky to work with because the gold flakes are so stiff. Even after two coats of top coat some are still peeking a tiny bit through the top coat. At least the shredded yellow gold looks very pretty in combination with the stunning Dance Legend Green Mamba. I have such a soft spot for flakies. ♥
Aren’t the green/blue flakies of Dance Legend Green Mamba gorgeous? And the beautiful sparkles of CND Crimson Sparkle on top? Seeing the potential of the CND effects liks Crimson Sparkle makes me sad that they are all discontinued. Ok Shellac is successful, Vinylux maybe someday too but it would have been nice if CND would have kept their regular nail polishes because personally I couldn’t care less about Shellac, Vinylux and any gel nail polish in general.
In indirect lightingI should do layerings more often again. The only downside is that you not just need to pick one nail polish to wear but two, three or four.
As a black base under Dance Legend Green Mamba I used Zoya Raven because I wasn’t sure how opaque Green Mamba would be. A layering can be coat heavy so I wanted to avoid having too many layers of the base. I would have picked American Apparel Hassid though but my favorite black creme is nowhere to be found.
Dance Legend have been such a nice surprise this year. They have such a huge variety of nail polishes and what I love about them the most is that they make entire collections out of one nail polish finish which is done by established salon brands too but not that often and not with every finish. I can’t wait to try the Mist Way nail polishes for example which is an entire collection of flakies similar to Illamasqua’s Raindrops.
The shipping sadly takes a while from Russia and especially the clearing from the Russian customs takes quite some time but for such gorgeous nail polishes I don’t mind waiting.
Have you done any layering lately and if yes which nail polishes did you use?
Thanks for looking and have a great week!
