What Keeps Me Away

As you know, I was released from captivity lost my job last April and I haven't looked back since. Before all that went down though I was working on plans to launch my own business and to free myself from the burden of the kind of life I didn't want to live. It was suffocating being stuck under the boot of someone else and my only solace were my plans I'd been putting to work and this blog. I would get on and post about all the things that made me smile because I was dying inside. My spirit was dying and it was all because of that job. I told someone once that my life was going great in every area except my career life. I was scared to make a change because I thought it meant that if I made that area right, another area would go wrong. I was sick with misery and borderline depressed because of it. I KNEW I had to leave and I should have left 3 years prior.
Since I've left that place, our finances have taken a hit but the bills are paid, our bellies are full and the lights are on. It is all. By the grace. Of God. I've been keeping a bit of a video diary since then and I'll be sharing when the time is right.
Anyway, I'll be back blogging soon as I've also started making videos again (3 new videos posted today--yippee) and I just thank you all for hanging in there with me. Before I resume posting again, please do me a favor and show your love and support and LIKE my new FB page Veronica Campbell Portrait (I'll still be active everywhere else of course). This is the business I'd been working on and what has been keeping me away. I needed to get all my business ducks in a row, take workshops and practice, practice, practice.
My portraits definitely aren't where I want them to be but I'm still learning and I find that every two weeks I've learned to apply a new skill and it makes me better. I know I'll get there and by the time that I do, I'm sure that by then, my taste would have been elevated even further beyond what it is now.
So what is Veronica Campbell Portrait anyway?
It's a portrait photography business focused solely on making women feel beautiful. This is portrait photography for women by women and I'm excited for what is going to come. My focus here on this blog has always been to help women embrace their beauty naturally and it was only a natural step from here to specialize in that area of photography. I love my sisters, sistas & sista-girls and we are ALL beautiful--my aim is to showcase that through photography.
