Sequin turtleneck

Having my festive spirit activated since days, I consider everything that comes with sequins as the perfect addition to the holiday-wardrobe. And with long sleeves and a turtleneck it’s even appropriate in the crisp-cold days that are to come.

It’s on repeat every year: I find myself in front of my closet, debating whether I should opt for a classic in terms of a little black dress or if I should go the fancy way with sequins and more sequins for the special days. It might not be the most important decision on the globe but it still needs to be made. My sequined clothes selection is quite limited, which obviously made me decide many times on the dress instead of on the sparkling look. but so far my number-one shiny piece was the J.Crew Zig Zag sweater, which looks fabulous with either a black skirt or a pair of plain pants, unfortunately the shirt starts to irritate the skin after a while, which then results in insane itching.

Luckily I spied a wonderful, perfectly sparkling shirt during the runway show of Smets in mid-September in Luxembourg. It was actually from Malene Birger and I loved everything about it until the moment I tried it on and the same itching appeared as with the J.Crew sweater. No need to mention that I left the store without it, because after all, it’s an item that you can’t wear on a daily basis, except if you focus on standing out of the crowd of course, and another reason: the price-tag was a bit too hefty for my taste.

There’s also a plan B: to give it a name : Nelly . One of my favorite online destinations for shopping released a quite similar shirt, with a much nicer price-tag, that I’m sporting in today’s outfit. Considering that it’s literally a shine-out piece, I took it slow and only added my much-adored and often-worn simple black pants and my favorite pair of pointed toe Zara heels to it. And voilà, there is my first holiday-season-inspired look that you can shop straight under this article.
