The Unique Experience

When someone asked me for a London Fashion Week essential, I replied 'Bercoca'. Can you tell I have eye bags the size of most designer numbers with waiting lists? Every time I wonder why I'm so tired with three shows a day on my roster I then think back to the palaver getting there (the Northern line is not my friend), late nights going through photos on an ageing Macbook and dealing with all the seasons in one day. I may not be making much sense but I'm going to power through with my coverage regardless, giving you an insight into the frenzied atmosphere before, during and after the shows. After countless seasons of applying, I finally managed to obtain a coveted Topshop Unique invite and tried to get there as early as possible to take in the full experience. Alas the traffic on the Strand had other ideas however, the one time I have a car to take me somewhere it gets stuck in gridlock and arriving at the show with minutes to spare meant that I missed all of the Instagram-able meringues and the like. Oh well, I found a handy perching spot by the side of the catwalk anyway and marvelled at the likes of Jourdan Dunn and Malaika Firth strutting like there's no tomorrow.

Head designer Emma Farrow has settled into her role after a few seasons and the offshoot of this beloved retailer is now a go-to place for attainable yet exciting pieces. The new twist on nautical was the British seaside with its faded glamour and primary colours with a hint of sparkle. There's a lot of interesting textures about this season and I definitely preferred the basketweave leathers and bonded cottons to the slightly ice-dancer bling towards the end. I guess I'm just a casual girl at heart, give me a nice coat and a striped anything and I'm happy. This might be the first collection I actually purchase from, now we have this nice little bond (in the meantime, I'm perusing the looks of the FROW).
