NEWMUSICMONDAY: JAMES BLAKE, IFAN DAFYDD, RAZ FRESZO & CHILL WILL AND CHLOE HOWL

Happy Monday gang! How are we all doing? It's been scorching temperature in Brisbane, but we all seem to have survived. A welcome change no doubt from the previous weeks performance of #thebigwet. But enough of that - lets got on to some new new new music. I am really excited for this week's pick. Starting with the first cab of the rank: Mr. James Blake.
1. RETROGRADE - JAMES BLAKE
IS BACK! And man I couldn't be more psyched. I think for me, James Blake's new album, Overgrown, (out 9th April) is one of the most highly anticipated albums - followed closely by Kanye's (rumoured) new one. This single perfectly embodies what James Blake, and his music are all about, its simple and pretty. He lets the voice do all the talking and occasionally you catch glimpses of instruments that match the timbre and tone of his own raspy voice. We live in an age of over produced and complicated music scenes, and don't get me wrong - I love my share of overproduced mayhem - but I think its brave of Blake to come out and make such minimalistic music like he does. And for that, I always have a special place in my heart for JB.
2. CELWYDD - IFAN DAFYDD
Sticking to ethereal English tunes, this new one from Welsh producer Ifan Dafydd does all the right things for me. Its stunning and soft and everything in between. As you might already know by now, I am a huge fan of instrumentals. and Ifan's Celwydd is one of many beautiful reasons why. Its the kind of song you want to listen to on a cloudy day and read a book or DIY. Just press play, cause there is nothing else for me to say.
3. SALMONILLA - RAZ FRESCO & CHILL WILL
Pause. A little more hardcore after two soft tracks, this ones comes to me from young rappers Raz Fresco and Chill Will off their collaboration mixtpae The Popcorn Tape. It's fresh, hard hitting and heavy. For how young these boys are, their voice and sound is definitely mature. But as much as I am in love with Salmonilla, I can't say much for the rest of their mixtape. You can make up your mind up on it - by downloading it for free here.
4. CHLOE HOWL - RUMOUR
And let's round out this post with another English act - but this time a little more pop flavoured. UK Pop Singer Chloe Howl is coming with all guns blazing this year - with her first single; Rumour. I can only predict that this is going to be a favourite amongst people in Oz. Chloe Howl is very reminiscent of La Roux for me - and not just because of the red hair, but in terms of sound. Pretty excited to see what else this lovely comes out with.
And that my friends, is this week's edition of NMM. How was your weekend? Have you got some new music you want to share?? Leave them down below. xxxx
