Review // M.A.C. 'In Extreme Dimension Lash' Mascara

Time to review a new product! In yesterday's post, you could read that I attended the opening of the new M.A.C.-store in Leuven. I received their 'In Extreme Dimension Lash' as a gift and couldn't wait to try it. I don't have one favorite mascara that I tend to stick to; I love to experiment and try out different ones.
M.A.C. is one of my favorite make up brands when it comes to lipsticks and concealers, but I never tried one of their mascaras before. Needless to say that I was super excited when I was gifted this one.
So, what does the 'In Extreme Dimension Lash' mascara promise to do?
"M.A.C.'s lightweight whipped formula saturates lashes root to tip, adds volume, extends length and creates curl, while conditioning for softness and flexibility. The final result: extreme dimension that won't smudge, clump or flake."
You can find the M.A.C. 'In Extreme Dimension Lash' mascara on the M.A.C. website or at the M.A.C counters and stores for € 22 / $ 21.

The color I got is called 'Black Extreme'. No further explanation needed.

The ingredients, which I know nothing about. But olive and fruit oil are okay, aren't they? ;)

The packaging of the mascara is okay: it comes in a black tube with M.A.C. written all over it in white letters. The wand handle has a has a curved shape, which felt weird to me the first time I held it. It takes some getting used to.

The mascara brush is long and stiff with tiny bristles; a huge change if you're used to soft, fluffy mascara brushes like I am. I really had to get used to working with it and almost poked myself in the eye with it a couple of times. As you can see on the picture, the product tends to clump together at the end of the wand. If you pull the mascara wand out of the tube, the product also tends to clot around the opening of the tube, which makes it a bit hard not to smudge the mascara everywhere.

The result: As you can see, my lashes are indeed fuller and more voluptuous. In extreme dimension, however? Not really. Don't get me wrong: I think it did a pretty good job, but I'm not sure if there are any big and noticeable differences with other mascaras. When it comes to not smudging or flaking, this mascara is perfect. I applied my mascara at 11 am, sat in the sun for most of the day (sweating!) and the mascara was still there perfectly. No smudges, no flakes. Thumbs up for that!
The overall conclusion: Like it told you above, my lashes were more noticeable and fuller, but other mascaras have the same effect too. The wand and brush take some time getting used to if you always used soft, fluffy brushes. I did love the fact that the mascara stays in place, without having to fear that you'll look like a panda.
If you're looking for a good mascara that will define your lashes and make them more visible, this mascara is a nice option for it. However, there are cheaper options. Admitted: € 22 / $ 21 is quite some money to spend on a mascara that has the same effect as those you can find in drug stores. But if you want a mascara that doesn't clot, smudges or flakes on your lashes, your money will be well spent. It really depends on what you're looking for with this mascara.
This product was sent to me by a PR company / brand. This does not affect my opinion in any way.
