Review // Kelly & Sharon Osbourne For MAC Limited Edition Collection

I've been waiting patiently for the Kelly & Sharon Osbourne For MAC Limited Edition Collection to hit stores, but of course, I had to work on the day the collection was set to be released. After hitting the web and reading that the products were sold out, I had pretty much given up hope on ever getting my hands on even one of them.
And then, after stopping at the MAC-store at De Bijenkorf in Maastricht a couple of days ago (as I always do), the gods showed me some mercy. There were still quite some products available and I decided to take home Kelly's eye shadow palette and Sharon's patentpolish pencil a.k.a. lip pencil / lip gloss. I had hoped to get my hands on Kelly's lilac lipstick as well, but hey, I can't and won't complain.

First up is the 'Bloody Brilliant' Eye Shadow X 4 palette from Kelly Osbourne's collection. The packaging comes in Kelly's typical purple color with a red signature. The lid is transparent, which is always a plus; you will find the colors you are looking for without wasting any time. I chose Kelly's palette over Sharon's because I felt that these colors suited me more, I'm not sure why. Maybe it's because she has a pale skin too and I knew I couldn't go wrong with these colors.

Here's a close up of the 'Bloody Brilliant' Eye Shadow X 4 palette by Kelly Osbourne:

- Top left >> Spoonful Of Sugar (a sparkling platinum color with a veluxe pearl finish and which also can be used as a highlighter)
- Top right >> Tickety Boo (a soft muted plum brown color with a satin finish)
- Bottom left >> Fizzy Rose (a pale lilac color with a satin finish)
- Bottom right >> Shadowy Lady (a blackened plum color with a matte finish)

Next up is one of the patentpolish pencils from Sharon's collection, which can be compared to a mix of a lip pencil and lip gloss. As for the packaging, the pencil comes in a red tube with Sharon's signature in lilac. The bottom of the tube consists of the twist-up button in the same color as the pencil, which is both more hygienic (no need to sharpen the pencil yourself) and time saving (you can see and find the color you need in a heartbeat).

I went for the color Patentpink, because it immediately reminded me of the sold out lilac lipstick from Kelly's collection. The color is being described as a "washed out lilac" color, so I guess I was right on that one. The pencil promises that it has "the color and shine of a gloss, the precision of a lip pencil" and "a unique blend of creamy emollients replenishes moisture, keeping lips soft with an ultra-smooth texture that isn't heavy or sticky". ""

Time for swatches! From left to right:

Spoonful Of Sugar (barely visible, but it's there alright!) / Tickety Boo / Fizzy Rose / Shadowy Lady / Patentpink (lip pencil)

I must say that I was kinda disappointed when I was swatching this palette. Spoonful Of Sugar is hardly visible and I had apply the other colors multiple time to get a somewhat nice effect. I also have the feeling that they're not that highly pigmented as usual. Plus, Shadowy Lady looks like 'just black' instead of the blackened, plum color they're talking about on the MAC website.
Maybe I was a bit blindsided by the dark, intense colors that Kelly was wearing in her promo pictures, which, as we all know, can be deceiving sometimes. The lip pencil, however, is gorgeous! Even though it looks pink in the picture above, it really has that lilac tone to it. I decided not to let these swatches get me down and created a look with these colors.

Zooming in on the eyes: I decided to create my own take on the palette instead of copying Kelly's look. It's always fun to experiment and to create and try out some looks yourself, isn't it? I went for a romantic, girly look and I'm kinda proud of the result, since I'm relatively new to this. I tend to stick to my trusty black eyeliner and red lipstick. Also... Romantic? Girly? ME? Hell must be freezing over, let me tell ya. Anyway, it's nice to step out of your comfort zone from time to time.
I applied Fizzy Roze all over my eyelid, except for the inner corner, which is where I applied Spoonful Of Sugar. In my crease, I applied Tickety Boo for some depth, mixed with a teeny tiny bit of Spoonful Of Sugar for a bit of extra shimmer. I used Shadowy Lady as a smudgy eyeliner to add that little bad ass touch to this look. Add some mascara and you're ready to go.

Oh, I also have a question: does anyone know a good website or program to create a collage like the one above, but with perfectly squared squares? Sorry, the perfectionist in me is taking over.

As for the lips: Patentpink, what else? As you can see, the color is in between lilac and pink, depending on how much light you're having inside or outside. It has a creamy texture indeed, something I definitely had to get used to (again), since I've only worn matte lipsticks for the past couple of years. As promised, it does keep your lips soft and moisturized. But it does not - and I repeat - does NOT have the precision of a lip pencil. This baby is a pain to apply and I would recommend a lip brush to do it. It probably has to do with the fact that a lip pencil has a sharp tip (aka easy / easier to apply) and Patentpink has a round tip. It's not a big drama or something, but it can be annoying and time consuming if you're in a hurry.

Tadaaa, and here's the full look! I was thinking that maybe it's a little bit too pink, but since I had to show you all of the products, there was no other way. I think this look will also go with a nude type of pink on the lips.

Some extra images, just to make sure you get the picture, héhéhé.

So, what do you think of the collection - or well, part of it - and the look I created?
