Back in town: obrigado Cape Verde

Cape Verde. It’s not an island that comes to mind quickly when thinking of summer holidays. Greece, Spain, France or Italy popped into my head first because I wanted to stay close to home. But I accidentally stumbled across the Cape Verde islands.

The ridiculously white sandy beaches, the transparant blue water and the sunny climate (with a light breeze) attracted me to these islands. And I made a pact that from now on I’m visiting places I’ve never been before (trying my best!). You might think the countries mentioned above have the same qualities. They sure do! But they are far more crowded than Cape Verde around this time of year because the trip to the Islands is a tad further (8 hours flight) and it’s a part of Africa. Their high season is in the winter.

I was looking for a nice quiet place to relax, to do absolutely nothing, get back to basics and to get my stress level back to 0. And so Cape Verde was the place to be. Fun fact: the locals their motto, how appropriate, is “no stress”.

MORE TO COME

I’m hoping to share my photo diary with you guys when I’ve gone through all my photos. A few photos are up on my Instagram. For now I’m still reminiscing about my two week summer holidays.

Obrigado Cape Verde!
