#ManiMonday – Veronica Mars Movie Nail Art (No Spoilers, Promise!)

Happy Mani Monday/St. Patrick’s Day! I don’t know about you guys but my weekend was made a whole lot better by the release of the Veronica Mars movie.

As a Kickstarter backer of the film, I’ve been not-so-patiently waiting for the return of this modern day Nancy Drew since last March. Though really, since it went off the air in 2007.

On Friday, I received my digital download of the movie and hosted a watch party with my fellow Marshmallows. I may or may not have watched it four times since then.

To celebrate the release of the film and in hopes that it does well enough to spawn sequels, I have a VMars-inspired manicure that, naturally, incorporates Essie Marshmallow. I mean, how could it not??

Watch Party

Watching the movie at my house meant we wouldn’t annoy anyone with our reactions. And while I normally want to throat punch anyone who dares to whisper in a theater, I made an exception since I could re-watch any dialogue missed.

Now what’s a movie night without snacks? And there had to be Veronica Mars themed snacks, of course. From #TeamPiz Pizzelles (I’m actually #TeamLoPiz because I can’t choose), to sundaes with #Marshmallow fluff and Spirit Box Snickerdoodles we had more than enough sugar to keep us up for back-to-back viewings.

And since I promised no spoilers, I’ll just say that the movie really delivered. Rob Thomas clearly wrote this movie for the fans with little nods to the 4th Season that never came, the Kickstarter campaign, etc. But he also made sure to include just enough back story to allow VMars newbies to feel included.

ps. If, like me, you loved Logan’s voicemail greetings, watch all the credits. I missed it the first two times.

Also, while I’m not even close to being on #TeamDick, Ryan Hansen looks better than ever (so unfair how guys age like that) which puts me firmly on #TeamRyan (sorry Jason and Chris, cuz I know you care).

Anyway, let’s get to the nails. I knew Essie Marshmallow had to be part of the picture but I wasn’t sure how. As a nail art neophyte, I needed something simple to tackle. I looked to the stickers that came with my Kickstarter Backer t-shirt and the Mars Investigations logo seemed easy enough. I decided to mix that in with Spirit Box Snickerdoodle-colored nails.

I started with a base of OPI My Vampire Is Buff ($9, ULTA.com), to represent the sugar cookie, and Essie Marshmallow ($8.50, Nordstrom.com) for my logo background.

To get the right rolled-in-cinnamon-sugar look, I applied a super thin coat of China Glaze I Herd That

($4.55, Amazon.com
). The mix of gold, bronze and red micro-glitters give that snickerdoodle feel.

Finally, I used both the Sally Hansen I Heart Nail Art Pen ($5.99, ULTA.com) and Striper Polish ($3.99, ULTA.com) in black to create the logo. Rolling my finger under the brush, made it easier to keep the lines straight. The only downside of the pen is that I had to draw the triangle twice to get it jet black and opaque.

So, Marshmallows, who saw Veronica Mars? Did you watch at home or in the theater? What to you think of my themed nail art? What colors would you use to create a snickerdoodle nail color?
