DIY Headboards for Kids Rooms

Looking for an original and easy way to dress up your little one’s bed? Look no further. We’ve scouted the web for the most original, instant ‘oh-la-la!’ effect, do-it-yourself ideas for headboards. Some of these are so cool, we’d actually use them for our own bedroom!

Using washi tape, draw the line of an imaginary city. Want to go the extra step and get bonus points? How about a washi tape Eiffel tower, oui?

We’re loving this simple wallpaper panel idea. Using a wooden board, choose mix and match wallpapers and cover the boards to create a bohemian chic headboard set in a shared room.

For a natural and romantic ambiance, assemble some washed out wood panels and cut them in the shape of a romantic headboard. Let your child use the headboard as a mood and memo board.

This is a genius idea. Two cut-out forms are used as a headboard and night stand. Paint them in matching or contrasting colors to finish the look.

Washi tape forms, a painted shape (like this VT Wonen pink stenciled shape that can be downloaded here), a wood house shape with painted additions or just the wooden shape, adhesive paper shapes—there are so many ways to update your child’s bed with a custom made headboard.

Happy decorating!
