Gallery Post // Tree House in London by 6a Architects.

Project name: Tree House.
Location: London, UK.
Project Team: 6a Architects.
Photography: Johan Dehlin.

London studio 6a Architects has extended the home of architecture critic Rowan Moore and his family by adding a timber structure that curves around a tree. The extension was designed to provide a new ground-floor bedroom and bathroom for the London house, which is an amalgamation of two cottages constructed in the 1830s. Branching out from the original home, reclaimed wood is used for the framing and foundation of the project and timber cladding on the exterior, while white-painted timber panels line the interior walls. The extension meanders through the rest of the yard, reminiscent of an english pastoral painting, as the overgrown landscape surrounds the structure.
