Drawn in by the heavenly smell of cinnamon and the promise of cardamon-filled goodies, my discovery of Bageriet did not disappoint. Sitting listening to the staff speak Swedish, surrounded by Scandinavian desserts and enjoying a fluffy cinnamon roll with a hint of sugar and coffee in this homely café, one would be forgiven for forgetting that this is the heart of Covent Garden. I felt like I was in a village or maybe visit a grandparent in the countryside – welcoming, unpretentious and really good cakes.
I asked when the café had recently opened but apparently it has been here for 2 years. So either I don’t get out much or this is one of London’s finest secrets… Either way, it’s now near impossible for me to pass through Covent Garden without buying a bun or two.
