My heart is and always will be with Vinyasa, but I recently decided to branch out and try different kinds of yoga.
Verdict? Love-Hate relationship (love/hate it while I’m there sweating– LOVE they way my body feels the next few days.)
You are going to sweat your ass off. Make sure to dress appropriately. My first class I wore a tank top with cropped yoga pants and it was too much clothing.
I recently got to test out Hot Drop Bikram Apparel and loved the freedom the clothes gave me. Wear just a sports bra and shorts (trust me it feels liberating!)
You are going to slip and slide without one and the towels studios provide usually aren’t big enough to fit your entire mat (see photo above as I forget to bring my own.)
I love the Yoga Rat line.
Mirrors at Yoga class??
Maybe it’s because I was always yelled at in ballet or maybe it’s from my Vinyasa practice where I’m used to closing my eyes and meditating within BUT the mirrors everywhere at first intimidated me.
Bikram encourages you to look at yourself in the mirror to make sure you have proper alignment and also to give you a point to focus on.
Do it-you look hot (…..literally from the 105 degree heat)
Make sure after class you treat your body right (light/ easy digestible foods) and drink a lot of water! More than you think.
