Local Treasures

Lately, I've been very inspired by modestly dressed bloggers from the Middle East. I'm drawn to these hijabistas because they create a balance between their style and belief without losing touch with today's world. It reminds me of this wonderful quote I read, "The clothes you wear reflect the things that are hidden deep inside of you. They’re a statement about something close to your world. Fashion is a way of turning yourself inside out." (I Don't Have a Thing to Wear: The Psychology of Your Closet by Judie Taggart)
The past year in Muscat has certainly inspired and influenced my style. I'm drawn to unique silhouettes, luxe fabrics and stylish layers. I love finding local designers and boutiques because they pay extra attention to details, comfort and aren't massed produced.

This is what I wore for a Iftar gathering with a few friends:
Tunic, Mini's Boutique| jeans, Topshop| wedges, c/o The Trunk Label| clutch, Kurt Geiger|| cuff, Muscat Souk| glares, Ray Ban| lipstick, NYX Pure Red
  • Wedges are definitely the way to go if you're not a stiletto-gal but still want to benefit from the extra height and leg-elongating effects of high heels. These foot-friendly shoes are also instant outfit updaters.
  • Usually infamous for their casual appeal, if you're looking for a formal pair for a night out then I recommend the ones I'm wearing. They would great with an LBD and maxi dress alike.
  • Amp those chic pyjama pants with a plain tank and printed wedges. They help to make billowy pants look crisp and more elegant for a perfect day time look.
