London: Hanging out on Parliament Hill Fields and in Highgate… (Liberty London Girl)

Working on the Great Boden Diaries Project is continuing to afford me ALL the fun. For my first post we decided to focus on a guide to my London, in particular that part which falls below Hampstead and Highgate, to the south and east of the Heath. I used to live just by Parliament Hill Fields, and it is still only a ten minute drive from my London flat.

I walk Posetta Baddog there regularly, Holly lives close by, and one of my dearest friends Clare, lives up the hill in Highgate Village. (Long term readers may remember that I spent part of the summer of 2010 residing in their attic, (like a mad lady), when recuperating from my mystery tropical illness.) Clare and I have been friends for twenty-four years, a fact we like to throw at each other with increasing horror.

TWENTY-FOUR YEARS?! HOW is this even possible?

So, for this story, I took Clare’s infants, my godson Oliver and his sister Luella, for an outing on Parliament Hill Fields, with ice cream, sausage dogs and smoothies. Oli fell in love with Posetta Baddog, and Lulu climbed trees like a squirrel. All in all, it was a perfect Sunday afternoon. For the second part of the story I explored the Victorian splendours of Highgate Cemetery, discovering memorials to the great, the good, and the entirely forgotten.

First up today are the kids bouncing around the Parliament Hill Fields playground, and snacking at the Parliament Hill Fields Cafe, which is actually on the Heath.
