Less than 24hrs in Belfast, Northern Ireland

Remy and I made a whistlestop to Northern Ireland on Thursday afternoon, to do a demo and signing at Le Creuset’s Belfast store.

Here’s Remy and I in perky pre-demo mode:

Everything went well – everything cooked, and served at the right time, although I still do not love cooking on an induction hob. (It’s always a pleasure to see everyone snarfling down all the food I cook, and to meet so many interesting people.)

I was absolutely thrilled that my big cousin Robin, and his wife Joanne came to my demo. We haven’t seen each other for years, what with me moving to the US, and their home being in Northern Ireland. It was so lovely seeing them that I am already planning my next visit over the Irish Channel.

After the demo, Remy and I headed to supper at James St. South, which was really excellent, before crashing early at our hotel.

It’s an absolute joy flying from Belfast City: we left our hotel at 0735hrs, arrived at the Airport at 0750hrs, and still had twenty minutes to kill airside before the 0840hrs flight. I nearly lost Remy to the sheep and shamrocks aisle at Belfast City .

The British Airways flight to London seems astonishingly short, at just 55 minutes, and it’s impressive that the cabin crew manage to not just hand out hot drinks, but a proper hot breakfast too. (And it was delicious. Well, not the acidic orange juice or oddly textured bread, but the cheese omelette with chestnut mushrooms and slow roast tomatoes was pretty good.)

The view was pretty spectacular too.

Huge thanks to Le Creuset for underwriting my mini book tour of the UK. (I was not paid for my participation.)
