Clarins Ladylike Collection Look, Reviews, Photos, Swatches

Clarins Ladylike Collection for Fall 2014 makes me feel so many feelings. The visual is so chic, fresh yet sultry. Polished but undone. Ladylike is a complete collection of new eyeshadows, lipsticks, blush, brows, liner, and mascara. I was sent a few things (and bought one) from the collection, so I have them to review!

First up, the new Ombré Matte ($24) are cream-to-powder eyeshadows. They are really smooth and very pigmented, and the feel is similar to L’Oreal Infallible shadows, but just a tad creamier and minus the fallout. They blend out really nicely using a brush or even your fingers. The press release says these are long-wearing and melt-free. While I just experienced very minimal creasing after a work day, I did find that the shadows have considerably faded from my primer-free eyelids at the end of the day. An eye primer will definitely help to keep them from fading or creasing altogether; Instant Light Eye Perfecting Base ($26) would perhaps work for this purpose.

As for the shades, I received 02 nude rose and 06 earth, and bought 04 rosewood, because pretty. On closer inspection, none of the shades are completely matte. They have a minimal glow to them, and it’s more apparent on the darker shades. 05 sparkling grey is not even pretending to be matte at all. It’s a straight up gunmetal shade. This eyeshadow formula and the six shades are now part of the permanent Clarins line.

Swatches: 01 nude beige (matte) / 02 nude rose (matte) / 03 taupe (matte)
04 rosewood (matte) / 05 sparkling grey (sparkling) / 06 earth (matte)

The single blush from the collection is the Blush Prodige in 07 Tawny Pink ($32). Its mix of brown, peach and pink highlights a post-summer complexion beautifully. This one imparts a glow rather than obvious shimmer on the cheeks. I love this colour, but unfortunately, my cheeks eat it up and I’m left with patchy blush at the end of the day. Not cute.

Get the Look

To get the collection look, I used Ombré Matte in 02 nude rose along the brow bone. Then I ran 04 rosewood along the crease, making sure to extend diagonally to elongate the eye. To add more warmth, I brushed Blush Prodige in 07 Tawny Pink lightly all over the lid and crease. I lined the top and bottom waterlines lash lines with a black pencil liner. Then along the bottom lash line, I packed 06 earth and extend out diagonally to mirror the top eyeshadow.

Lots of blush contour (and add bronzer if you like). Lips are a tinted lip balm (Baby Lips!).

What do you think of this collection? Are you planning to pick anything up?
