Giving Up On Spring

Spring? Are you there? Can you hear me?!?

:sigh:

It was 80 degrees yesterday. 80!!!

Today, 40. With biting wind that sliced right through you.

The front of my house is pathetic. It would be awful even if the deer hadn't been nomming on the shrubs and plants on the right side there.
See? At least on the left I have something and some daffodils. Yay!

On the right? You can see where I hid the dead bucket o' mums behind the Indian Hawthorn that used to be full and bushy. Now you know one of my dirty little secrets--I can be a lazy gardener come fall. :oP

I'm starting to see things pop up here and there, particularly the daffys.
I may have mentioned they're one of my biggest spring favorites...only once or twice, right? ;o) I found these guys hanging out at the house next to the bus stop. Lovely. Truly.

Since spring is not wanting to make an appearance, and since I've been dying to get my crafting groove on, I decided to make it spring in my house.

I found the floral picks and stems on sale at Michael's last week, as well as the teeny little grapevine wreath.

I plucked the flowers off their stems and got to work with the hot glue.

Making some progress.

Ta Da!

Lil decided she needed one as well. Who could blame her? We are all dying for spring to arrive.

I had to be a bit more careful with the flowers I had thought I was going to use for her wreath. See that green center?

Well, there was no way to just pop that little flower off and keep that green center. I had to use wire cutters on it.

Here ya go. A nice green stem to hot glue to the wreath form.

But, all my work was for naught as they languished there in a pile at the top of the photo. Lil liked the ridiculously full flowers and decided this was how she wanted it to be. Okay then, it's her wreath. :o)

Now, to take these flowers and make a BIG one for me. ;o)

Sparklies:

1.
I do love the rear view kitteh.

2.
I am NOT the one responsible for the opened jumbo bag of chocolate chips sitting on the pantry shelf. I might or might not have seen a certain man with the initials BSD with a bowl of them...

3.
Hooray! I found more spring!!

4. The sun was shining, even if it was frigid out there today.

5.
I don't care how often we go over, I still love this scene and that I can go whenever it suits us all. These moments are so infinitely precious.

No milestones.

But...I would love it if you would check out this post written by a friend of a friend. She lost her 18 year old daughter in 2006 and has written this beautiful and SPOT ON post about grief and how to respond to those who have experienced loss. I encourage you to go and read it, bookmark it even, as it is full of very sound and sage advice.
