Tuesday Garden Report--6/2/2014

I decided to start this week's tour out front. The verbena are coming right along. I've decided there is no reason to be afraid of the half-dead rescue clearance plants. I mean, look at this!

The Bitsys are just about spent this go 'round, but the Carefree Peaches are just hitting their stride. :o)

The glads are about spent as well. They've been so beautiful, though. :o)

We're working from left to right across the yard and deck today. This hanging basket is a bit of a disappointment. I have no idea why one of the purple 'tunies decided to croak, but it did. :sigh:

Do you see the renegade sunflower poking its head up there off to the left? ;o)

The minty weasel is coming right along. (Yes, this bed needs to be weeded...don't look!)

Oregano, lemon thyme and mints. The cilantro is not doing so well. Cilantro seems to be the one herb that won't grow for me. :oS

And, another renege sunflower. ;o)

The parsley is coming along beautifully, and the other thyme, as are the morning glories. It's about time to start providing climbing apparatuses for them. :o)

More morning glories. Yes, Jane, I love love love my weeds! :oP

Lil's garden.

Back to the pergola. Hello, you sweet thing! :o)

Lest you think my entire yard is beautiful, here is the trench the dogs started, and as you can see by the evidence in the lower right corner, the girls have extended.

Another basket full of rescues doing quite well. This is over by the grill on the gazebo.

Back across the deck. Here's Lil's container tomato. It's not growing very big.

The blue sage salvia are coming right along.

As is the black eyed Susan vine. :o)

Why look, more minty weasel. Now why would I need that much basil at my house?? ;oP

And now, on down the path to the pond. I love the spira are still blooming, and I'm still beyond chuffed with the mailbox post. :o)

The hanging basket on the backside here just seems to get lost. I might have to switch its place with the one on the front.

See how much more vibrant it is?

It's not as bright and showy, instead more delicate. I have no idea what that trailing plant stowaway was, but I'm sure happy it's in that basket. :o)

Miss Mary Mary has begun to do her thing. :o)

Onward to the pond!

Still loving the million bells. :o)

Taking a gander at those things in the pond planter.

That's a columbine there on the bottom and left. The right is a daisy.

A daisy that appears it's planning on possibly blooming sometime soon...;o)

Lantana and catmint. That catmint is gorgeous!

There ya go. Off the back corner there. Daylilies along the left, the dill--can you see its wispy-ness?

Of course, the zinnias and cosmos.

Along the path as well.

I began with ONE 4 o'clock three years ago. I have six so far this year and they're big and healthy!

B trellised the rose that wouldn't die (I think I shared last week) and it looks better.

I moved that poor daylily that was being overshadowed. I hope it does better up here.

And, off to the beds along the fence.

Toe-toes!!!

More toe toes!!! :o) These are sungolds, baby!! :o)

Peppers. They're looking pretty good. We used one in our guacamole last week. :o)

Oops. Out of order here...the cuke vine. I do believe we'll have cukes much later in the year than everyone else...

The opposite end of the pepper bed. I have a couple of volunteer tomatoes in here. Seriously, where were you earlier?!?

I'm fairly certain this guy is a weed, but I'm loath to pull him, just in case...:oS

And, the great big bed of crazy (GGBoC?). That butterfly weed is going gangbusters! That's some blue sage salvia there along the front. The rudebeckia is looking good, and I'm pretty sure that's a Mexican sunflower there on the right. The dahlias are coming right along as well, and I'm hoping the daisies will do something. :o)

The butterfly weed is thisclose to blooming! :o)
The backyard. Minus that dead patch the girls keep digging up for mud pies (yes, Granny Mae, I can hear you snickering up there!), I'm pretty pleased with how things are growing. :o)
