Tuesday Garden Update 6/10/14

The tour begins on the left again this week, we're moving across the yard once more.

The minty weasel and all other herbs are thriving in this bed. Well, all except the cilantro. Something is eating it and it's just not thriving.

The parselys are still looking good, and I put in the sticks for the morning glories.

I guess the phone wanted to focus on the ball and not the vine. Hmpf.

Lil's tomato.

Boy this pot went from nothing to something quickly! The black eyed susan vine is sure climbing now! And, those blue sage--wow!

I keep seeing critters (squirrels, birds) trying to hang out in here. Hm.

It's spilling over! I have no idea what that little stowaway plant was, but it's sure happy in that basket.

Gee I'm still in love with this post. :o)

I'm not so happy with the dirt patches...

A nice wide shot of how things are going over there.

Things are going WELL! Cosmos and zinnias still growing like weeds. :o)

More zinnias coming right along. I know I should have thinned them and that they'd all grow better, but I'm all about survival of the fittest. ;oP

Soon. There will be daisies soon!

That's columbine there in the lower left. No blooms from it this year.

The autumn sage has started to bloom.

(Check out all that color across the way!)

More color! It's delightful!

Four o'Clocks are coming right along.

Hooray! The Little Strawberry Shortcake has started to bloom!! I love this one so much!

And, I saw the first bloom on Pocket Change today as well. I love the gold edge on this one.

The tomatoes have really taken off this week.

Soon...

And, I know I'm weeks behind everyone else, but I just don't care. Look at my cuke! :o)

The pepper plants are looking great! Hooray for that! I couldn't keep last year's plants looking good for anything. :oS

Coming right along.

You can't see it in this photo, but there are FOUR volunteer tomatoes growing in this bed. FOUR. Where were they earlier this year?!??? ARGH! I've left them to find their way through the zinnias, hollyhocks and whatnot. I loved all three varieties I planted last year, so I'll be happy with whatever they turn out to be. :o)

I'm not sure what plant this is--Mexican sunflower, maybe? I can tell you that leaf at the top is one leaf from two.

It's hard to explain. Here, check it out here.

I found a black eyed susan vine growing back here in what I determined was a weed. It was climbing the weed and I needed to provide it something else to climb. Hence, another stick.

The great big bed of crazy is thriving too.

Butterfly weed is the big one right now.

The bumble bees are loving it.

See?

This I'm fairly positive is a Mexican sunflower.

Now then, will it be red, orange, or yellow?

They're all three gorgeous and the hummers, butterflies, bees and goldfinches (and squirrels!) all love them, so it doesn't really matter anyway. ;o)

The clematis refuses to give up just yet, and I do love the colors in this hanging basket. :o)

Can you see where the Million Bells died up front there? :sigh: It was just too hot and bake-y up front. This corner really does turn into a brick oven...

So far, the verbena are obviously loving it. :o)

This has such a yellow cast to it, but it's really a lovely pink. This is the first Chorus Line I've seen bloom this year.

The Carefree Peaches are about done this go 'round. And, I pulled the last of the Bitsy deadheads off.

I love this daylily so much. It's such a sweet, dainty daylily. It sparkles in the sun. :o)

And, that's how my garden's growing this week. :o)

Sparklies:

1. Totally bragging here:
These are my stats from yesterday. Look at all those steps!!!!! I typically get around 10,000 a day. This was insane!

2. Lil came home from school smiling, laughing and cheerful. :o) Hallelujah!

3. Today was Market Day at school. Lil sold tattoos. She came home with a bag full of junk. It must have been a good day. ;o)

4. I'm really enjoying being "Coach Rachael". There's something fun and challenging about being in the pool with the little kids. They're all so excited and enthusiastic!

5. I chatted with Dani and Robin today. :o)

6. Even though it's about ten million degrees out, Crystal and I got in our run this morning. Whew.
