Last Day of School 2014

I could have sworn we were just here. How have 180 (plus a bunch of snow days...) passed so quickly?

Look at how old she's starting to look. When did this happen? I still see my baby in there, but she's not a baby. Not by a long shot.

Holy smokes she's a third grader.

Ulp.

It's funny I had no more success getting a decent photo of the two of them this morning than I did at the start of the year (or at Easter for that matter).

I think my favorite thing about the fall photo is the upside sign. :oP My favorite from this morning is how happy my girlies are.

I do hope Lil had a beautiful last day. She has adored Mrs. F, assuring me she is "just like you, Mommy! She's strict, but kind and will give you a hug when you need it." What more could I ask for? I've adored her teacher, especially her consistency in expectations. It's been a wonderful year--minus problems with that friend, that continue--and I'm keeping my fingers crossed she has another incredible teacher next year. :o)

As for the "friend"...yesterday she asked Bitty if they were still friends. Lil responded that they hadn't ever not been friends and the child tried to go back to her crazy possessive, isolating, emotionally blackmailing ways! OMG! Poor Bitty. She's working hard at being kind but sticking to those boundaries. It's HARD.

When she gets home, we'll sit as a group and create our summer bucket list. I already know Lil wants to put "Go to Water Country" and "Go to Chincogteague" on her list. I'm good with both of those. :o)

We need to let Bean add items as well, and we need to peruse my pins to find fun summer activities. We'll have the two S's with a couple days a week this summer, and I find things go better when we have a crafty plan in place. I'm also planning for an hour after lunch being devoted to reading and writing (for the big girls) and the little girls can do reading and drawing. I figure it'll be a great time for Lil to write letters to GF and Lissie and anyone else. Or, she can journal. I don't care, so long as she's practicing her writing and reading daily. I'm a mean mom, I know.

We also start our summer swim schedule tomorrow. I'll have the girls at the pool by 8:15 where we'll stay until 9:45 for Sadie's practice.

Saturday we have our annual fund raising dinner and practice "meet" where the kids will practices starts and events in preparation for Monday's friendly meet. Goodness, summer is starting with a bang!

I have a 5K race tomorrow night. Ulp.

The girls and I will be going to the 'burg and then onto TN to visit GF and then back home in time for Bill's family's reunion (of which we are now a part). Then, before we know it, it's the Fourth of July weekend and then we'll be facing Heaven Day and then Lissie Camp, and boy howdy, the summer is gone!

I think I shall take it one day at a time. That seems the best course of action.

So, I'll get those pins pulled up and be ready to get our list going when Lil gets home. :o)

Sparklies:

1.
Somebody got pretty comfy watching "Wallykazam" today!

2.

Lil purchased ring pops from her school Market Day. Bean was blue even after swim practice!

3.
Not a sparkly, but oh my am I going to be dark (only on my shoulders and arms, mind you!) by the time I'm finished with my "Coach Rachael" gig. This is with SPF 50!!

4.
He's baaaaaaack. :o) He just lays out there, tame as can be. He barely even stirs when the dogs race out now. And, the dogs really aren't putting that much effort into getting him. It's rather like when Tom and Jerry go through the motions but their hearts really aren't in it.

5. Pesto for dinner!

6. Last day of school!!!! No lunches to pack, no girlies to ride herd on in the morning, no more doubling up on my daily exercise. Woo hoo!

7. Crystal and I took the girls out in the rain for our walk through CW today. It was glorious! We all wound up soaked to the skin, but why not? :o)

No milestones.
Sort of.

Days like today I miss my girlie. I saw Dani's niece at the twins' birthday on Saturday and remembered her and Hannah playing together as wee little nubbins at Dani's wedding. Maddie was SO tall and grown up looking! Then, I was on Kory's blog and saw her sweet girlie (who is merely months younger than Han) and saw how tall she's getting, and I can't even imagine Hannah like that. It's moments like this I ponder and wonder what she would look like now, and I realize just how much I'm missing. :o( More on this for another post. It's rather ramble-y at the moment in my head. I have no idea if I'll be able to make it be otherwise...
