Show Beauty @ The #beautyproject

If you live, love and breathe beauty, you won’t have missed The Beauty Project (or to hashtag, the #beautyproject) at Selfridges.

In total it’s a six week programme defining all things beauty, be it talks, interactive debates and experiences to submerge yourself in. All across the floor there are stations filled with products to swatch and buy – it’s like a make-up sweet shop without the calorific guilt – just the financial one.

Yesterday I arrived bright and early at the great department store for a blow dry courtesy of new luxe haircare Show Beauty. Its collection has caught my eye recently, namely because the packaging is incredible and epitomises luxury. If a Tom Ford lipstick can command £36, it shouldn’t be a shock there is a hair oil similarly priced.

There is also another interesting side to Show Beauty. The name behind the brand is Tamara Ecclestone, daughter of Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone but you wouldn’t have known that. Tamara has chosen not to put her name to the brand and you won’t find her face on the advertising campaign either. That’s because she wants Show Beauty to be judged solely on what it does.

You won’t find me sucking up to Tamara Ecclestone and yes, she has the money to fund this collection but I respect her morals for not slapping her famous surname all over the brand when it could have been so easy to. With that firmly at the back of my mind, I couldn’t help but fall for the Decadence Hair Fragrance (£55), Pure Treatment Oil (£50) and the Premier Dry Shampoo (£30), which isn’t riddled with talc and makes my hair feel sticky and nasty.

Show Beauty is an opulent hair styling collection and essentially aimed at the high end spectrum of haircare but it’s not to say you can’t indulge in it. Personally I’ve spent over £30 on shampoos and felt it was justified but then hair is very important to me. It defines my appearance and it’s why I invest in regular cuts, colour and treatments.

I’ve been told to expect a shampoo and conditioner to add to the range possibly at the end of the year, if not in 2015 and I am beyond intrigued and excited for it. Will it make my hair shine like Orion’s Belt out on the ice? If the blow-dry is anything to go by, then I have a strong feeling it will.

If you fancy popping by Show Beauty for a complimentary hair styling session and to try out the range, there’s no need to make an appointment – just turn up. The bar is at London’s Selfridges until Wednesday 4th June, situated in the beauty workshop area on the ground floor.
