Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

Micellar cleansing waters have undoubtedly sent a lot of us flapping with excitement. The sole blame goes to Bioderma for effectively changing the way we beauty lovers choose to remove make-up.

Other brands have followed suit with their imitations and sadly they’ve done very little to sway me. They either sting my skin or don’t take off make-up efficiently and gently.

Well now I think my opinion has changed quite drastically. Garnier may have come up trumps with its Micellar Cleansing Water* that is not only accessible but also a third cheaper than the big fella, Bioderma.

It comes in a 400ml bottle and costs a very reasonable £4.99. According to its label, it claims to contain 200 uses. Well I’m not counting but I very much doubt that is true and probably should be removed from the packaging as misleading.

In case it wasn’t obvious, Garnier is French too and unlike Bioderma which can only be bought online (‘cept in Harvey Nichols), this product is very easy to find in retailers like Boots. Taking off eye make-up is a breeze and it’s effective in shifting the most stubborn cosmetic residue plus it’s gentle on the skin and feels refreshing and hydrating. It’s hypoallergenic and not perfumed, so it shouldn’t cause a reaction though if you have incredibly sensitive skin, it may be wise to carry out a patch test.

But the biggie here is, if I were blindfolded, I couldn’t tell the difference between Garner and Bioderma.

I am pleasantly surprised and impressed with Garnier’s take on the humble micellar cleansing water. It is great value for money and does the same job as Bioderma but for a fraction of the cost. What’s there not to like?
