OPI – Pink of Hearts 2014 (Mod about You & The Power of Pink)

A quick walk through any store and it’s easy to see October is in full swing! The shelves are lined with two things: pumpkin spice everything and pink ribbons and packaging for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

I can say with a good bit of confidence that if you’re not already aware of breast cancer then you’ve probably been living in a cave for the last decade. However, simply being aware is not enough. Ladies (and gentlemen), this is something to be proactive about. Get your annual physical. Do your monthly self exams and if your doctor recommends it, don’t be afraid of the dreaded mammogram machine!

AS SOON as I saw this, I knew I wanted to review it. I love pink. I love glitter. Surprisingly, this is the first Pink of Hearts duo I’ve purchased. It features the brand new limited edition The Power of Pink and Mod about You.

I was a little nervous about using Mod about You, I’d read some reviews that were less than excellent, but I think it’s a great light pink polish! The formula was fine and the polish applied nicely. I used two coats and topped it off with my HK Girl fast drying top coat. I wore Mod about You all on it’s own for two days. In a sea of Fall colors, the pink definitely stood out – but I suppose that’s the point, right?

The Power of Pink is a glitter bomb of magenta and white fine & hexagonal glitters set in a milky pink base. It looks AWESOME over Mod about You. This was a really fun look to wear and I received lots of compliments. I only used one coat and the glitter spread out very evenly all on it’s own with no extra effort on my part. The Power of Pink is a winner!

Mod about You is a core shade and you can purchase it solo. Mod about You retails for $9.50 and is available at Ulta and (of course) on Amazon. The Power of Pink is a Limited Edition polish and is only available as a part of the duo. You can pick up the Pink of Hearts 2014 Duo at Ulta, Trade Secret, and Beauty Brands. It’s also available on Amazon.

Rewind: Want a little nail polish history? In 2007, OPI released Pink of Hearts, a limited edition shade to help promote breast cancer awareness. They followed up in 2008 with Pink of Hearts 2. In 2009 OPI began adding the year to shade with Pink of Hearts 2009 and 2010 respectively. 2011 was blessed with a LE Pink of Hearts: Pink Shatter. More recently, they’ve released special duo sets in 2012, 2013, and 2014.
