2 good reasons to visit Antwerp nów

Er zijn op dit moment 2 overduidelijke redenen om een tripje Antwerpen binnenstad te boeken: & Other Stories en de Magnum Pleasure pop-up store. Eén van beide zou eigenlijk al genoeg zijn, dus uitvluchten zijn uit den boze, FYI. Laten we beginnen bij het begin: & Other Stories. Zegt genoeg, niet? De pas geopende winkel in Antwerpen is gigántisch. Twee verdiepingen in een betoverend pand, met het meest geweldige interieur ooit. Trendy spot? Absoluut! Natuurlijk ging ik tijdens de opening niet met lege handen naar huis. Ik kocht onder andere de Erborian BB crème, een scrub en body soufflé – maar daarover later meer.

Currently, there are two good reasons to book a trip to downtown Antwerp: & Other Stories and the Magnum Pleasure pop-up store. One of the two would actually be enough to go on a trip, so excuses are unacceptable, FYI. Let’s begin at the beginning: & Other Stories. Three words that say it all, right? The newly opened store in Antwerp is húge. Two floors in the most charming building ever, with the most amazing interiors you have ever seen. Trendy spot? Absolutely! During the opening party, I couldn’t control myself, so I bought the Erborian BB cream, a scrub and body soufflé – but more on that later.

Tijd voor de tweede stop: de Magnum pop-up store. Als in: ijsjes! Maar niet zomaar ijsjes, nee. Je kan er namelijk je eigen variant samenstellen. Eerst kies je een topping (lees: 3 toppings) en vervolgens moet je de hartverscheurende keuze maken tussen witte, melk of donkere chocolade. En alsof dat nog niet genoeg hersenbrekers zijn, moet je vervolgens nog 4 minuten wachten voor je aan je ijsje begint. Kwestie van alles krokant te laten worden. Ha! 4 minuten! Gék! Ik heb het twee minuten volgehouden. En het was krokant. Ik ging trouwens voor de toppings witte chocoladekrullen, amandel en meringue. Héérlijk.

Time for stop number two: the Magnum pop-up store. As in: ice cream! But not just your regular ice cream, no. You can make your own Magnum version. First you choose a topping (read: 3 toppings), then you have to make the agonizing choice between white, milk or dark chocolate. And if you think you have your portion of brainteasers by now, think twice. Now it’s time to wait for four minutes before you start eating your ice cream. Ha! 4 minutes! Crazy! I waited two minutes. And it was crispy. Anyway, I went for the toppings white chocolate, almond and meringue. Delicious.
