#HairOfTheDay Soft Spiral Curls with Suave Professionals

I’m super excited to be trying something new on the blog. You know those step-by-step hair tutorials on Pinterest? Well, I partnered up with the fab folks at Suave to do a fun #HairOfTheDay tutorial of my own.

With the temperatures dropping to near freezing in Georgia, my routine wash-n-go just ain’t happening – my scalp would freeze like a popsicle! And, you guys, I have to be honest…I’m just not a protective style kinda girl. I mean, I like a good turban now and then, but I’m not likely to be that girl rocking twists or braids in the winter. I am so envious of women who can rock those styles, and I can’t even tell you many times I’ve tried to make them work for me, but I’ve accepted that they’re just not me. (Although I am hell bent on making milk maid braids work…it will happen…one day. Lol.) Anyway, I digress. As I’ve gotten older I’ve come to terms with the fact that I feel most beautiful in one of a few simple styles – down and curly, down and straight, or a nice neat ponytail or top knot. If you’ve been reading the blog awhile, you’ve probably noticed that I don’t steer too far out of my lane often. Since it’s too cold in the winter months to let my natural curls air dry (which is my preference), I tend to wear more straight styles. But, I am also careful in the fall and winter months not to go too crazy with heat styling because I don’t want to damage my natural curl pattern. I know my fellow curly girls know what I’m talkin’ about…weekly flat ironing is a no-no, but when wearing straight styles it’s hard to resist the temptation to touch up frizzy edges and flyaways. So, instead of wearing a bone straight style, I opted for soft spiral curls – no flat iron required! I started with blow-dried hair and let the curling iron do all the work. Seriously, just cutting out that extra step of flat ironing really saves your hair from a lot of damage. Plus, the thing about curly-straight styles is they get better with time as the curls loosen and fall…especially with products like Suave Professionals® Sleek Anti-Frizz Cream and Suave Professionals®Moroccan Infusion Styling Oil. My curls lasted about 4 days with no additional heat – I just used the Anti-Frizz Cream to smooth my edges and about a dime sized pump of the styling oil all over to keep my hair soft and shiny.

So, enough of my blabbing…here’s how to get the look!

Step 1

Start with blow drying clean hair semi-straight with a brush. No need to get the hair super straight! When hair is completely dry, rub a dime-sized amount of Suave Professionals® Moroccan Infusion Styling Oil throughout hair root to tip for sheen and softness.

Step 2

Curl hair in small half inch sections using a curling wand. (this step takes some time, but it’s so worth it!)

Step 3

Bend head forward and shake out your curls, gently blending the roots, but being careful not to separate the ends of the curls. Polish off the look by using a soft brush (I like to use a toothbrush) to apply a tiny bit of Suave Professionals® Sleek Anti-Frizz Cream to the hairline to smooth edges.

Voila!

The finished look is bouncy, soft curls that last for days!

How do you change your style up for the colder months?
