Crate DIY Holiday :: Gift an Open Book Photo Album!

One of our favorite Christmas traditions is the gift of photo sharing. There are numerous ways to embellish upon this common practice, but because we're 'paper connoisseurs" here at Crate Paper, we think today's feature from Stephanie Bryan is a brilliant alternative to the typical framed photo gift. See for yourself!

Handmade gifts are always on my to-do list each Christmas. I'm always in search of easy, meaningful gifts to give to family and friends. This year, I decided to combine two of my favorites; Maggie's Open Book collection and photos, to create sweet little gifts.

I started with a small box that I picked up at the craft store (it's about 3.5 x 5 inches) and then trimmed two pieces of white card stock to create an accordion album. Accordion albums are awesome to give as gifts or cards. They're also great for tucking away inside a mini album. Just score your paper a little smaller than the width of your box (or album) and fold it together!

I trimmed several papers from the Open Book collection to act as a mat for my photos, journaling, and embellishments. I selected several greens, creams, and golds since my album will be given as a Christmas gift. I just love how versatile this collection is!

I kept my embellishments simple and sweet and tried to choose sentiments and colors that reminded me of the holiday season.

To finish the little accordion album, I added a gold chipboard deer and a "Merry Christmas" banner that I conveniently typed on my typewriter.
It's such a simple little gift, but I know it will be loved by our Mimi and Poppy.
Thanks so much for joining me today. I hope to
have inspired you to create some handmade gifts this season. Happy Holidays to you!!
