As crafters, I think we always put pressure on ourselves to include lots of handmade projects in our holiday celebrations. But sometimes, the hustle and bustle of the season doesn't allow much time for crafting. For me, keeping things simple is key! And it allows me plenty of time to enjoy what I've created during this celebratory time of year.

This simple star wreath is a project that you complete in less than 45 minutes. It's festive enough for the holidays, but can also adorn your house well into the new year without looking out of place. (So if you don't have any time to create until January, that's OK!) Here's how I created this easy project!

Gather your supplies. In addition to a grapevine wreath (available at most craft stores), I selected several neutral papers from Crate Paper's Open Book, Notes & Things, and Open Road collections. I focused on gray/tan/white patterns, but you could select a more colorful palette if you wish! You'll also need some paper-wrapped wire, scissors or die cut machine, a scoring tool, a hot glue gun, and some ribbon.

Cut out the stars. Using a template (or die cutting machine), cut out several stars ranging from 3 inches to 4 1/2 inches wide. I used 20 stars for this 18-inch wreath, but you can use more or less depending on your wreath size and preference.

Score each star. Using a scoring tool and straight edge, gently score a line from the point of each star to the corresponding valley.

Fold the stars. Using the score lines to guide you, fold each star as shown, with the valley folds going down and the point folds going upward. The result is a 3-dimensional star.

Glue the stars in place. Using a hot glue gun, apply glue to the back side of each star and arrange them around the wreath. I also added small pieces of paper wire (wrapped around a pencil to acheive the spiral look) and inserted these randomly amongst the stars.

Add ribbon. Select a few pieces of ribbon that coordinate with your paper selections and tie a simple bow. Glue to the bottom edge of wreath. Hang anywhere you want for a touch of handmade love this holiday season!
