Ipsy Glam Bag for September: Review

Ipsy is a monthly subscription bag. For only $10 a month you get a great mix of full and sample size beauty products from great brands and a cute makeup bag too! I particularly like the Ipsy Glam Bag because for the most part, they keep your coloring and preferences in mind. It’s the one of the best values in beauty subscription bags and great for building a makeup collection and for trying new brands you may not be familiar with. Ipsy my love, you have redeemed yourself this month–I will give you a reprieve from cancellation. The August bag was just meh but Ipsy made up for it this month with an awesome bag! The theme for September is Street Style as evidenced by the super cute silver makeup bag with studs–one of the nicest ever in my opinion and it totally suits the theme! The faux leather is really soft and no chemical smell!

Take a look at what’s inside!

Crown Brush Infinity Shadow/Crease Duet Brush ($17.50, on sale for $7.50) - I have eye shadow brushes and I have crease brushes, but this is both in one brush. Genius! I own several Crown Brushes and they are great quality at a decent price. I tend to be hard on brushes so I love getting new ones to replace the old, I will get a lot of use out of this brush.

Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair Deep Conditioning Mask –(est. $5) Comprised of 95 percent naturally-derived ingredients. This product is free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates, silicones, artificial fragrances, artificial dyes, and gluten. It is cruelty-free and contains organic ingredients. In lab studies, the use of Don’t Despair, Repair!™ resulted in 81% less hair breakage after just three uses. Safe for color-treated, chemically-treated, and keratin-treated hair. For those with fine or thin hair, we recommend focusing the treatment on the mid-length to the ends of the hair only, and rinsing thoroughly. Love the ingredient list and what’s NOT in it, but hair masks really weigh my fine hair down and this one is no exception.

HIKARI Lipstick in Cabernet – ($13) this shade is slightly scary for me, but I’m going to be brave and try it! It’s full size. “Amp up the color with Hikari’s richly colored lipstick. The highly pigmented formula glides on smoothly with a matte finish. Layer this formula to build color for a perfectly enchanted pout.” I do like having a few red lipsticks available in my collection if/when I get in a vampy mood!

Pacifica Natural Water-Proof Eye Pencil in Fringe ($5.50): I’m guessing at this price because it is not full size which is $11. I love the Pacifica brand but have never tried much of the makeup so I’m glad I got this instead of the nail polish (which I already have anyway). Fringe is a pretty deep, dark brown just my color! It seems smooth and relatively long-wearing. Score!

Leeanni 3-in-1 Revolution Light ( $3.75). This is a toner, serum and lotion in one step, which is a great time-saving idea, although I’m skeptial about one product being efficient at all those things. The texture is very lightweight and feels more like a gel consistency. It feels great on the skin, so I will wait a bit and see if it is moisturizing enough for this winter. Gluten-Free. Natural. Vegan. All ingredients are edible except wax (used to combine oil and water) and rosehip oil (for anti-aging, photo-aging protection, and scar treatment effect).

Bottom Line: Overall this was a great bag with lots of useful products. I liked the mix of hair, makeup and skincare products and the bag is quite upscale looking with a high quality feel. The value of the bag is about $35 but of course I only paid $10 and I will use all of these products! Ipsy, you have won my heart again!
