China Glaze Happy Holiglaze Collection: Swatches and Quickie Reviews

Hello gentle readers.

I should have done this post a long time ago. This collection got caught up in the vortex of my life events of last Autumn. A lot of things did. I have a pile of polishes that will be trickling through, here and there. I know that this is a Christmas/Winter collection but a lot of these polishes can go into the rest of the year, so if you picked up any of these beauties, or if you run across any of them in your travels in various stores or beauty supplies, don't dismiss them out of hand, pick them up, give them another look and consider their potential.

The China Glaze Happy Holiglaze Collection for Christmas/Holiday 2013 is a lineup of shimmers, glitters and a texture polish that resembles snow. No cremes or jellies were included in this lineup. There is a lot of red, purple and blue and a gracious plenty of sparkle and shine.

I'm going to run this down in one post. Lost of photographs, quick descriptions and mini reviews to go with.

So Blue Without You. Cerulean blue foil. Wintery and cool. Not unusual but very pretty and wearable. Certainly not just Holiday or Christmas, this could be pretty any old time you like. If you see this in a clearance sale, grab it, it's a beaut. Think of this in the Summer. It looks like the blue sky, don't you think? This is two coats and top coat. The formula is nice.

Bells Will Be Blinging. One coat over So Blue Without You. Topped with Gelous and Seche Vite. Multi glitter mix topper comprised of extra fine blue and silver, blue and silver hex, silver holo bar glitter in a fluid clear base. This is one coat topped with Gelous and Seche Vite.

Just Be-Clause. Pretty, classic Christmas red shimmer. Two coats, top coat. Very nice formula and application. Dries in good time, too.

Santa Read My List. Magenta foil. Two coats and top coat. Lovely formula and application.

Be Merry, Be Bright. Red and purple tiny square and medium hex glitter in a clear fluid base. This Pretty topper has a lovely formula, easy application and good dry time. Topped with Gelous and Seche Vite it is mad, mad shiny, sparkly and very smooth.

All wrapped up. Blue and silver micro glitter in a clear base. This needed three thin coats to opacity. This is very, very sparkly and pretty! Not necessarily holiday. It can be for any time. Dries a bit gritty and thirsty, needs extra top coat. Topped with Gelous and Seche Vite.

Mingle With Kringle. Not your mother's gold nail polish. This is modern, glamorous and has a great, edgy quality. This warm gold has red sparks running through it. Very interesting. This is two coats and top coat.

Your Present Required. Glitter topper that would be fun and festive all year around! Think birthday parties, going to the fair, all kinds of occasions. I love this mix of tiny squares to jumbo hex in gold to white to copper, blue and pink. Application is pretty good for a chunky glitter topper of this ilk. Some patting and coaxing is needed but it isn't difficult. You will need to fish for the biggest hex bits. Sadly, I could only find one jumbo white one. This stuff dries in good time. This swatch was topped with Gelous and Seche Vite.

Elfin' Around. Red and gold foil. This has a pretty, almost iridescent quality, when the light hits it. bright and pretty, if not particularly unusual. This swatch is three coats and top coat. This polish has a nice formula but it doesn't handle ridges well. As you can see, Even with three coats, my ridges are large and in charge!

Travel in Colour. Iridescent topper. I swatched this over black. My photo doesn't begin to do this beauty justice. It is soooooo pretty! It is a micro, micro, micro glitter that shifts and dances and sparkles and plays with your eyes in the most pleasing ways imaginable. You have to see this in person to believe it. This is one coat over one coat of Wet and Wild Black Creme. I topped with Seche Vite. I bumped my index nail and just kind of tried to smooth the bumped spot, rather than re polish the nail. It had been a long session, I wasn't feeling re painting. #lazyslag

There's Snow One Like You. Two Coats. No top coat. Textured sandy stuff with hex glitter pieces inside it. This stuff builds up fast, it looks like drifted snow piled up on a fence post. Application is an experience with this stuff.

This is Tree-Mendous. Two coats of green and gold micro glitter in a clear base. Lots of Gelous and Seche Vite to make it smooth and super sparkly. This is very pretty. And not just holiday... If your school or team colours are green and gold, here is your polish.

And finally, we have Put a Bow On It. A purple and fuchsia micro glitter mix. Like the others in this collection, it is very, very sparkly once topped with plenty of top coat, I used Gelous and Seche Vite. This is opaque in three coats.

All in all, the China Glaze Happy Holliglaze Collection for Christmas/Holiday 2013 is a beautiful collection. There is a variety of shimmers, foils, glitters and even an interesting textured polish. Tho these polishes are not in wide release, any longer, they are still available here and there. I have seen them on Amazon, various online beauty supplies have them, I have seen them in Sally Beauty Supply stores here and there, as well. Check the clearance bins, if they still have them, they will usually be there, and for a steal.

Did you grab any of these beauties when they were in wide release? Are any of them jumping out at you, now? Many of these polishes would be very wearable any time, anywhere. These aren't just Christmas, you know.

Thank you for popping in and reading and have yourself a great day.
