We returned to Manning Park this year with the Fam Jam. There were 43 of us who went up, including 4 cousins from Italy. I had great plans to relax and read and go on adventures but my body had other plans for me. The pictures are kind of sporadic because I didn’t always have my camera on me I spent the better part of one day in bed thanks to my stomach. Le sigh.
We started off the trip with a quick golf game at the Hope Golf Club. We met Ryan and Elise bright and early and buzzed around the course. They were kind enough to rent me a cart so I could zip around, as well as play chauffeur to Elise. They boys were too manly to take the cart (plus there was no room for them). It was a beautiful morning to be out and about.
Chad did his usual “Morning Swim Across the Lake”. I sat and watched and read a magazine. Then I awkwardly did some yoga by myself.
Ryan joined to do some fishing. He was more successful in his little floater then Pat has been all Summer. Sorry Pat, low blow ;)
My goal for the trip was to walk around Lighting Lake. It is one of the easier trails and I quite enjoy the walk. Well, we got to Rainbow Bridge and I almost died. Heat overload, stomach overload, everything overload. Mom and Dad carried on but Chad and I went back. I barely made it. That’s right. A 1.5 km walk almost killed me. I had to spend the rest of the afternoon in bed. And thus concludes my pictures of Manning Park.
The morning we left we joined the Italians and a couple Uncles and Aunts on an adventure to explore Hells Gate. Having never been before I couldn’t pass up the chance.
It was a beautiful but HOT morning and as you may recall Danielle HOT = DEATH. I know, I know, but its not my fault. I’m like a lizard, I clearly can’t control my internal temperature. It’s OK though, I got some food and water into my system and did not need to be carried home in a body bag. Although, we took this weird route home (we were following my Uncle) and in a non air conditioned car it was like the worst drive ever.
Overall it was great that we had the opportunity to go to Manning this year. I really have missed going the past few years and I was happy that my parents were able to joined us, because I will always be 12 and will always enjoy the security of my parents being around. Plus, sharing a room with them my uncle and aunt was the funniest thing EVER. Clearly the 6 of us need to be roommates for life.
