Coffee Collective :: Changing the World Through Coffee

“We’re not in this business to just make money and get out, we’re in it for the long haul, with the goal of drastically improving the lives of coffee farmers around the world.”Klaus Thomsen of The Coffee Collective

As our time winds down here in Denmark, I have been thinking so much lately about how the last four years has changed and influenced us. One of the things that keeps coming to mind over and over is the power of the group. Coming from a very individualist country, maybe even the world’s most individualist, and suddenly being thrust into a socialized country where people are focused on the the collective group has been mind blowing. Oftentimes I ask myself, “What can I do to change the world?” but here people are asking, “What can we do?”

Companies, like Coffee Collective, are becoming a force to be reckoned with because they are embracing the principle that there is power in numbers and if we join together and work towards a common goal, we can truly shape the world around us. Wow. That amazes me. Aren’t they just selling a cup of coffee? No way. They are selling a new way of life, in which we as the consumers care not only for ourselves but for the common good of the world around us and all the incredible people that fill it.
