“SPRING BREAK” in Burlington.
Last week was “SPRING BREAK” at UVM, which meant that I still had work but things were super quiet on campus. Oh, and it was mostly -2 degrees F all week. That’s a fun stay-cation of sorts. It’s that time of year when I would have LOVED to have been somewhere warmer. I’m sick of winter, and all the layers we have to wear up here. Most days I “pretended” I was somewhere warmer by swimming on my lunch hour, drinking fresh juice from Healthy Living, going to Bikram yoga classes, and/or making terra cotta flower pots in the pottery studio.
And I went out to dinner a few nights. I went to a new place for the first time in ages, Revolution Kitchen. It’s a newish vegetarian restaurant right next to Daily Planet in downtown Burlington.
*Waiting for a table whilst drinking wine and reading Allie Brosh’s Hyperbole and a Half book. I’m so in love with this book – how it captures all the wonderful weirdness of both childhood and adulthood in the funniest stories and drawings. The Dinosaur and God of Cake stories! (Check out the blog posts here and here.) I was crying from laughing so hard.
I ordered the pad thai for dinner, and most of us split the banana cream pie for dessert. TO DIE FOR. It had this amazing banana bread crust to it.
It had warmed up by the weekend and I got out for some cross-country skiing in Stowe on Sunday. And no trip to the Stowe/Waterbury area can be without PROHIBITION PIG!
Aaaaaand my favorite brisket sandwich.
Lastly, dating(ish) update! I tried Tinder. Maybe not the app for me, but curiosity won out.
My friend Cullan convinced me to try Tinder after telling me, “All my law school girlfriends in Boston LOVE it!”
“But isn’t it just for hook-ups? I want something more than that.”
“No no no, they go on fun dates ALL THE TIME!”
“Hmmm. Okay, I’m intrigued. I’ll try it!”
Pros: I like, no LOVE, its simplicity. I like that it links through Facebook. I like that we don’t have to mess with cheesy profiles. I like that we have to match to chat. I like that we have to chat to get to know each other.
Cons: WHAT. IS. THIS?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Friends thought Aaron might have been teasing, but my creep-meter is sky high right now and my hunch said he wasn’t being funny. He was serious. Or maybe I’m being too serious? Ahhhhh, post-stalker dating in a text-driven world! This is hard kiddos. I did not meet up with Aaron.
