A Hamptons Evening with Shan

Happy Monday! I know I talked about Fall on the last post but it is still very much summer and bikinis are still ruling my wardrobe. I spent last week in East Hampton checking out a swimwear brand called SHAN that recently just opened up a beautiful shop on the main shopping street. East Hampton is known for having some of the best shopping in the Hamptons. There is a definite cache that comes with having a brick and mortar right smack in the middle of where the chicest women from New York City, and around the world, shop for their resortwear. Since I’m a die-hard resort lover and bikini stickler, I had to check out what was in-store, literally, and discover what makes a high-end swimsuit all that spectacular. The VP, founder and designers all talked me through the line to pick out one to try and keep. I chose a classic black bikini that was elevated with this beautiful matte netting set against a glossy band around the bust and a ruched bottom that created the illusion of a narrower hip. What really makes this bikini stand out is the fit and quality of fabric. It’s infused with Lycra Xtra Life fiber which makes the bikini maintain its original fit longer so through washing, pool, and ocean, it will prevent sagging and fabric breakdown. The suit feels luxe and I could tell through the fit that it was working with my body, not against it. Nothing worse than a suit that pushes all your bits out! I’m kind of a nerd about new fabric technology and I especially love things that allow me to move and live an active lifestyle.

It’s essential to finish off a great suit with an equally great coverup. I tend to look for really classic and neutral pieces that will work any time of the year no matter what trends come and go.

I’m dying to take these pieces to Europe if I can try to squeeze in some time to plan a trip before winter! We shall see, but in the meantime I’ll be making the best out the rest of summer with a trip to LA/ Santa Monica next week and the east coast beaches again by Labor Day!
